Why not the base 992? Saves $15,000 plus sales tax and license and the difference is 4 tenths of a second 0-60? I opted for the Targa 4 and used all the savings to add a bunch of options that I will enjoy every second while in the car. How many times will I drive on a track against other cars at the same time? Never. But all real leather seats? Every-time I drive the car.

my biggest regret was not adding the red ring on the tach and chrono gauge- I will lament not spending that $840 on every drive more than missing 60 hp while on the freeway at 70 mph. Turns out that the base Carrera can drive at 70 mph all day long at the same speed as the S - even if it takes half a second longer to get to 70. Half a second for $17,000.

Then you can order the manual on the S model for that $17,000 and lose 4 tenths of a second over the pdk and likely back to the speed of the base car 0-60. So the manual gearbox is not free - it costs $17,000 extra. Porsche has the best pricing managers in the auto world.

i wonder how many base carrera’s they sell with zero options?

I am happy to have all the option bells and whistles - ( safety options particularly that could save my life and four wheel drive) in exchange for a fractions of a second slower speed and ten miles per hour top end - isn’t 180 faster than Most will ever drive their cars anyway?

Nice build and I like simple. Not a Aero guy, but yes I still like it and yours in white will look great.
My C4S build is simple: Manual with black tips, Chalk, Sport seats Plus 4 way, Red belts, Bose, Heated GT Wheel, black stone guards, black rear lid slots and black Porsche / 911 Carrera 4S badges. Thats it, that's all I have.

Nice build and very similar to y my build except that I got the C2 with PDK and added night blue with slate. I did not get the AK or the black protector.. For the most part I find most of Porsches options as a waste of money and while I do not begrudge anyone for loading up, for my taste I like to keep it simple.. A lot of posters reference regret in building a stripper or skimping on options. For myself it is the other way around, I have regret when I land up with an expensive option that does not prove to be anywhere near the user value that I thought it would have. When buying lot cars that comes with the territory but Porsche allows you to forgo that issue by spec'ing what you desire. Also never get an option purely because you think it will improve resae. I wont and in every case you will lose money on that option.

I have been in my car for a week now and have absolutely no regrets and would not change anything. I do agree that the black protection detracts from the lines but otherwise a focused and beautiful build.

  • Get rid of the stone guards in black, they look bad.
  • The aero kit looks stupid on non-GT cars.
  • Full leather seats
  • Get rid of the sport tex steering wheel
  • Get the rims in satin platinum, they look ugly in chrome
  • Porsche crest in seats

In Nick Murray's review of options, he recommended against the 10mm lowering. You may be able to save a few bucks if you piece out the sports package with that removed.

Can you change the color of the wheels for free? I did not see on the configuration where you can do that.
The standard wheels are silver painted, not chrome. For those that suggest full leather, have you been in a standard interior to compare? The Porsche crests seem like a waste for something I’ll never see. Lol.

This car will likely see a lot of track time but not exclusively. Thanks again all!

No, but if you get rid of the black stoneguard, and the race tex steering will you will be at the cost of doing the wheels. If you get rid of the aero-kit you could go full leather and add RAS.

You cannot. For me, I think the bright rims would look okay with white. I would definitely change the rims instead of painting them.

Agree on Crests on Headrests, mine has them as I bought off the floor, but I wouldn't pay $ 10 for them otherwise. Silly.

Have Full Cow now, prior car was plastic. Your call on that, I enjoy the leather. If you are doing track days, you will LOVE the PASM / Rear Wheel Steering and PDCC. Skip the leather and order those - you can thank me later

I have seen a base interior. To me it looks really nice and luxurious and left me questioning getting full leather. If I was looking to minimize cost I'd have not gone with FL. The 992 is an upgrade over prior versions. I'd rather have a 992 base interior than a 991 leather.

If you intend on keeping the interior black, I did not find the leather to be worth the premium versus the standard interior. Now, if you’re going for a color exclusively available with full leather, that’s another story.
