Default Panic Button Off Switch?

Does anyone have a non-destructive method of turning off the Key Fob Panic Button function?

I'd imagine there are two possibilities: 1.) Disabling the Button itself -or- 2.) Is there an access point via the PCM that would allow one turn off this function.

Im curious as to why you’d want that? Do you a accidentally hit that on accident often?

Yup! Often enough. If there is anything other than the Key Fob in my pocket . . . . sooner or later . . . . I tried a piece of Duct Tape cut to fit the "U" shaped recess that the Panic Button sits in, but (apparently) that doesn't offer enough resistance.

Here is how to silence the Panic Siren. Simply unplug and if desired you can also remove the Siren as I did.

The car doesn't have any problems with this.

This is easily reversible.

The only Tool required is a 10 mm Wrench.

Time invested is less than 2 minutes.

Can’t you just use the other key ? (With no panic button)

Or simply unplug the siren leaving it installed ?

1.) Both Keys have the Button.
2.) Yes, one could just unplug it. But just think of all the weight that is saved by removing it.

I don't have my car yet to experience first hand, but i assume that the siren doesn't control the panic feature, only the sound. If you disconnect or remove the siren, wouldn't the car still be flashing the lights in response to the "panic".

Yes, all you're doing by unplugging the siren is to eliminate that particular function.

If you wish to disable the entire Alarm System one could pull Fuse "# 5" in "Row A" of the Driver's Side Fuse Box.

Another solution is to just use the key case.

You could practice low fuel strategy....

Interesting thread, its not something I’ve ever noticed or seen others comment on. I wonder how many others have had the same experience?
