What does the Sport Response button REALLY do?

Has it? And yet you still want proof. Here is a link to prove my assertion. Be sure to scroll down.

Yes, it has been discussed, at length, and NOT just on Rennlist, but on other sites discussing several Porsche models that has this button. Your interpretation is wishful thinking. Per your interpretation, “ It DOES give you additional boost“. In reality, the Porsche web site says nothing about “boosting” the turbo pressure. What the Porsche web site says, “This feature primes the engine and transmission for a surge of power and responsiveness for 20 seconds.”
But you are entitled to your opinion.

It may increase turbo boost over your current state ("...primes the engine and transmission..."), but don't think it increases maximum boost over and above any of the other modes. The link from Newport Beach Porsche does not solve the mystery.

Maybe. It doesn’t say how many extra pounds you get or if you get any at all. But it does say “a little boost” and it feels a bit more violent to me than sport plus. Also a liberal seat of the pants interpretation.

So tell me where this “surge of engine power” for 20 seconds that they speak of comes from in a twin turbocharged engine? Does it find two extra cylinders laying around somewhere? And that’s Porsches’ language linked by the local dealer, not theirs. If it’s just transmission gimmicks why put a timer on it? On the other hand, you would want to limit an over-boost condition when you are the one providing the warranty. I’ll call Porsche North America and ask, since this has been beaten to death - on many sites, apparently - yet no one (including me) seems to know FOR CERTAIN.

Try the recommendation from post #35. I did. One run with mode set at sport+ and second run pushing the button. No measurable difference.
From Porsche - Only difference between sports+ mode and sports response button is the PDK. I would love to hear what someone at Porsche, a technical person, not a sales or marketing guy, has to say.

I don’t believe anything yet - including what you just said unless you are telling me you are a Porsche engineer and designed it. I’m only sharing what Porsche wrote and wondering myself what the damn button does, apparently like everyone else up and down this thread.

Overboot is like Viagra
It simply primes the delivery vessel, but doesn't increase sperm count.

It's just like how in a manual you'll downshift as you prepare to pass on a two lane. In an auto if you kick down and don't pass right away it will upshift before you make a move.
Tl;Dr it's just a shortcut to sport + and kickdown for 20 seconds.
