Default What is the Warn and Brake Assist and steering wheel question

I noticed that as part of standard features on the C2 there is a "Warn and Brake asssist". This does not appear to be related to the automatic cruise control option.
What is this feature and what does it do and how does it differ from the similar function on the Automatic cruise control option

One of the 992's I tried had manual steering wheel adjustment and the others had electronic. Does anyone know if the Base C2 steering wheel adjustment is manual or electronic or is it tied into a certain upgrade or option- thanks

That would make sense - the manual steering wheel was in fact in the 4 way Sports seats plus car.

Yes, tied to power seats and the memory features that come with that

In situations when you move too fast and too close to an object the car gives you a warning message and applies brake for you if the system detects and believe it could be an emergency occurrence. Depending on how manufacturers program their system, while I had the AMG, it was way too sensitive and I really didn’t like it. However, it actually saved me from trouble a couple times in the cayenne. In some places, cars with such feature qualify for additional insurance discount. Here in BC, Canada, we get 10% off car insurance cost if your vehicle is equipped with warning and braking assist.

So many of the people that option in Adaptive Cruise Control do so for the collision avoidance but it seems that even without that option it comes standard in the 2021's. Is that correct?

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the standard collision avoidance feature only works at low speeds-- like under 25 mph, whereas the adaptive cruise control features collision avoidance at higher speeds.

This is where Porsche didn’t make it clear enough, I am not sure about cars sold in other regions The ACC sounds like a more advanced system over the standard Warning & Brake Assist. I wish someone can point out the differences. As far as insurance company concern, they only need to know if the system throws a warning message and if necessary, applies complete stop assist. I have a 2020 without ACC option and I have the Warning and Brake Assist.

you could be right as in my cayenne I get warnings during stop and go traffic. I’d imagine it’s the same or similar system they use in the 992.

Thanks that definitely makes sense. My wifes Audi does similar at low speeds. Agree that Porsche should make it clearer. Thanks

Hope this helps. The attached are the pages from the Owners Manual that explain the system as found on our 911's.

Porsche calls it the "Porsche Active Safe" system. FWIW, not exactly what I'd call an intuitive name.

According to Porsche's on-line explanation: "For 2020, the Porsche Active Safe system is available as an optional extra for Porsche 911, Porsche 718, Porsche Macan, Porsche Cayenne, and Porsche Panamera models equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control."

I have a 2019 build Carrera 2S without Adaptive Cruise Control and it has the Porsche Active Safe system as standard equipment.
I believe this is a requirement for cars delivered to the USA

If you go to the Porsche site and build a basic car and then look at the standard features it is listed under standard features and is present in all cars

Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) is supposed to be standard on all US cars by MY22 as a result of an agreement between the automakers and the NHTSA.
