I had the same issue and it appears to have been corrected with a software update (active campaign) that was applied during 10k mile service.

yes... the replacing of the shifter did it. It wasn’t a software after all.

I’ve been buried with building a HiFi audio system .. so my attention has been away from car forums and on audiophile forums 🤣

Did they give you the old part or send it back to Porsche?

Sorry to revive this. My lights still intermittently stop functioning. I took it to the dealer and of course they were unable to replicate it until I picked it up and the M light wouldn’t work. It’s been 4 months and I still can’t get this issue resolved. Dealer said there were no active campaigns for my car

I thought I posted the solution already, sorry if I didn't.... they had to replace my shifter console and it went away 100% .... the part is defective, MAKE THEM change it... tell them Porsche Burlingame California recently fixed a 992 with the same problem, ask for a guy named Chris Yip who was my service advisor on the repair.

I’ll try but they won’t do anything without “replicating” the condition

yep, I have heard that on my end... the good news is it begins to occur more and more often... my theory is a bad resistor that might eventually fail completely..

Just like you I hope they don’t damage anything doing the repair

I was pleasantly surprised... no squeaks, no marks, and no rattles... and the the bonus was I got a brand new shifter and mini-console.

Dropped it off again today... dealer was able to replicate the issue which triggered a fault code. Led to the shifter part being ordered from Germany. Last time they hard reset the car but similar problems arose. Try stopping at a light and opening the door and then trying to put car in P. Does it light up?

My car has 9300 miles. I dropped it off to address:
  • Wind deflector button on my Cab gets stuck - replaced new part.
  • P button doesn’t light up consistently - above - pending Germany.
  • Front Axle Lift - constant errors with lift system. Replicated issue - apparently there is a rain sensor in wheel well that triggered FAL fault.
  • Crackling Bose - thought it was podcast. Ordered passenger center speaker. Known issue.
  • Engine mount recall - not affecting my VIN. Ordered car 12/31/19 - Feb ‘20 lock.

10K service included. Opted to get this done early so i stop going to the shop... Added my new shoes today right before @ Rennwerke... the Pirellis feel like pure garbage. Going to toss them and replace them with PS4s on my RS Spyders.

My "M" and "P" button only work about 30% of the time.

you probably have the same problem I had... and your car was made around the same time. You need to get a new shifter.

Curious to see to what extent these issues have been resolved for the 2021-s.
