Besides the center console piano trim. I don’t see any more cheap plastic than that of my 991. My last 991 even had piano black on the door cards & dash to go alongside the matte plastic button fest on the center console. 🤷🏼♂️
Hmmm...
1) plastic on steering wheels (it’s worst)
2) steering column
3) passenger cup holder
4) seats memory buttons
5) door sills
IMHO in regular 991.2 this parts have better quality
I traded my gt3 in for model 3 performance edition, and I thought as you did, that this car would be slower, sluggish and just a nice autopilot car to cruise down the freeway with, and does ok 0-60, well, I was 1000% wrong. This car is so insanely fast, it would blow the doors off my gt3. The car came with the Michelin PS4S and this thing rips in and out of corners and due to the massively low center of gravity, the batteries are that spread out from front to the back and with AWD, you can push insanely hard in, during and out of corners, this car actually makes me nauseous driving because so its so fast. The car literally gives you more and more confidence the harder you drive it. Did you know it has 450hp, but get this, torque is 470, 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. When I got the car, it said 3.3s, but during first 4 months, they did 2 software updates, increased the power by 5% each, so that takes it from 3.3 to 3. Its crazy to think they can just reprogram the car and wireless push the update while you sleep. Never been to gas station nor service center since I got it, 23k miles on it already
I live near the Malibu canyons and for the last 20 months i have had this car, no porsche, ferrari, Lamborghini, etc has been able to get away from me, I actually as you said, had to slow down. I think having instant 470 torque at any speed is the key to this car. All this for only $65k, not bad aye? And cops can't hear you coming, I know it has saved me a few tickets already.
Even though its the fastest and most amazing car ever, I'm looking to trade it in for a gt4. I miss the sounds, the manual, and just having a car with a soul, I want to feel the road. For fun factor, gt4 would have that, especially after adding fabspeed or similar, and probably gpf delete.
Crazy.
Ps. I test drive 992 4S, didn't care for it. Yes, amazingly fast, great interior, but it's just not for me. Didn't like the turbos, sound and just didn't feel like my last 3 911's. Just my opinion.
Well there you go. "Proof" from a Model 3 owner Crazy. Thanks for the reply on this.
Oh, and to everyone else on this thread, sorry for partially hijacking as this obviously has nothing to do with whether or not the 992 is the best 911. I can't speak to that as it's my first 911. Had two Cayman S prior and the 992 certainly beats those!
I have never seen a 911, old or new that I didn't like. I suppose the least desirable I ever saw was a mid 70's sportomatic Targa in dark solid brown. I didn't like it much 20 years ago, but now I think it is cool.
I can seen the upside in all of them, a 60's SWB 2.0l with 130 bhp is very cool. I love it. Goodwood Festival of Speed, front of the Paddock.
70's G body 2.7 - excellent basis for a back dating project or leave it with CIS. Fantastic car.
930 Turbo?- awesome. Exciting beautiful lines. Raw
A 2001 3.4l 996 for £10k is just the best investment is a sports car you can make right now. Superb drive. IMS bearing? who cares? Not that many fail and you can fix it pretty easily (prior).
The Porsche 991.1 - superb 4.0l n/a engine. Beautiful styling. Whats not to like? 991.2 Same. First of the 3.0 turbos.
But for me, it needs to work and have a warranty as a daily drive. It has to be able to shrug off potholes and salt. It also needs to be exciting, different and wont break the bank. So for that reason the 992 wins.
And it is also very pretty and a superb drive and 34mpg.
Doesn't mean I dont want all the ones that came before it though.
