Keep in mind you can get a refund on the amount of tire/wheel insurance you don't use when you have the car. I had bought it for my GT3 and ended up getting $2200 back!

So $3,300 and weeks later I finally have my car back. A wheel weight for a big rig wheel was found inside my wheel. Not sure how that would puncture, so there must have been more to it... but that’s all we know.

Wow! So not a gang war shoot out then 😉

it must have been sticking up in the road, perfect angle. A rig doing 30, so the inside wheel spinning at say 25mph, not enough force if it shot off and hit you doing the same on the opposite direction, say max 60mph actual closing speed.

Just very unlucky imo, glad it’s been sorted and the mystery solved.

Wow...golden BB we call it in military aviation/aviation....perfect shot in perfect place to cause maximum damage that cause mishap and/or aircraft incident. That must have been in the road and you hit it just right and at the proper speed and angle that it penetrated both tire and barrel of the wheel! Doesn't happen often (Vegas odds likely) but when all factors come together and line up (called Swiss Cheese model) then viola...results can be horrendous. Hope OP got car covered by wheel/tire insurance or auto property/insurance.

Thanks for closing the loop and sorry to hear the cost, but good you are OK. Lessons for everyone in that - like people who have loose things lying around their cabins just waiting for an emergency brake to turn that tissue box into a flying brick.....
