I am extremely surprised how well the Porsche did.

Agreed - just the base Carerra also. The GT500 @ 4200 lbs! - what a pig.

I am sure a Carrera S would be faster than either of the other two.

Comparison to the C8 finally with a base Carrera. Most other comparisons have the S going against competitions base cars. Which I could never understand.

Having owned a number of Porsche's and a similar number of Corvette's I'd say that the jury is still out until we're at least 5 years down the road (no pun intended). The corners cut and those not, truly show up over the miles and the seasons gone by. All of my cars have been great for the first few years and 40-50,000 miles. It's after this that my Corvettes aged quite harshly and rapidly. Maybe this version will be different, but I'll not spend my money to find out! Then the Mustang at 12.2 mpg and a chassis that can't put its awesome power to the ground, without spinning the tires . . . useless IMHO.

People keep these cars for more than 5 years?

I'm really curious as to why these comparisons are even being made. There's a reason Porsche's retain their value better than other brands...and it's not because of the 0-60 time lol.

Hmm, careful there my friend.

It's not as clear cut as one might think in terms of depreciation.

The reputation of pre-9A1 engines as ticking time bombs shows up pretty clearly there, unless I'm reading it wrong.

Mustang = close to the average because, well, it's close to an average car.

Corvette = steep if not asymptotic depreciation because of GM build quality. Engines aside, a Corvette is ready for the glue factory around the time a Porsche is just getting broken in.

Watched that video earlier today. Not surprised to see the base Carrera punching well above its weight.

Agreed, 911 depreciation vs cheaper cars is not that notable. However, it holds its value really well compared to similar priced cars. That chart compared to an S-class or BMW M6/8 would look very different.

Perhaps this chart is more intuitive. I am surprised that the Corvette is doing better than the 911 in depreciation. Perhaps the lower initial starting price helps given its hp/$ ratio with improving quality and driving experience, starting from the C7/C8 generations. CarGurus has a similar service, but I like caredge, which I didn't know about.
