I am extremely surprised how well the Porsche did.

Comparison to the C8 finally with a base Carrera. Most other comparisons have the S going against competitions base cars. Which I could never understand.

Having owned a number of Porsche's and a similar number of Corvette's I'd say that the jury is still out until we're at least 5 years down the road (no pun intended). The corners cut and those not, truly show up over the miles and the seasons gone by. All of my cars have been great for the first few years and 40-50,000 miles. It's after this that my Corvettes aged quite harshly and rapidly. Maybe this version will be different, but I'll not spend my money to find out! Then the Mustang at 12.2 mpg and a chassis that can't put its awesome power to the ground, without spinning the tires . . . useless IMHO.

I'm really curious as to why these comparisons are even being made. There's a reason Porsche's retain their value better than other brands...and it's not because of the 0-60 time lol.

It's not as clear cut as one might think in terms of depreciation.

Mustang = close to the average because, well, it's close to an average car.
Corvette = steep if not asymptotic depreciation because of GM build quality. Engines aside, a Corvette is ready for the glue factory around the time a Porsche is just getting broken in.

Hmm, careful there my friend.

The reputation of pre-9A1 engines as ticking time bombs shows up pretty clearly there, unless I'm reading it wrong.
