Thoughts sought on not quite Demo 992
I’ve been considering a 2020 C2S Cab at my local dealer. Reasonably optioned with sticker of $142.7k. I’ve learned that the car has 330 miles as the dealership owner has used it a bit on some weekend jaunts it seems. So not really a demo but also not brand spanking new. No issues for me but wondering what a fair discount would be. They have already offered a 7.5% discount and am thinking that’s not bad given dealer only has 5 992s on the lot including this one. Thoughts ?

Unless it's a manual - I might be a little more stingy about a manual.
7.5% is a good discount.

My only concern with the purchase of, what is called a "Brass Hat" in the industry, is the sort of "care" or rather the lack there-of, that such cars are often exposed to. Particularly performance cars like a Porsche. Like rental cars, demonstrators will do things that your privately owned car would almost certainly never even think of, let alone be exposed to. Ex: A high percentage of their short lives may well have been spent at 100% Wide Open Throttle and/or driven over curbs, speed bumps and the like; sometimes by mistake because the driver was simply not familiar with the car or perhaps intentionally, at speed, as in "lets see how she'll handle this" . . . . The ultimate payback for such nonsense often not appearing until much later in the life of the car. YMMV but even at a substantial discount . . . these are still rather expensive toys.

Cars, especially auto are bulletproof these days. Even if they were all launch control starts, the car can handle it. It’s under warranty. With a PDK you can’t over rev it. Can’t dump the clutch and shock the drivetrain. The cars over engineered. Enjoy your discount.

Thanks all. I’m actually not that concerned on the mileage or that the car was thrashed around. I’ve bought a 991.1 from this dealer in the past and trust them. Given that test drives these days are unaccompanied by a sales associate where I live, the risk is not significantly more than any car that has been taken for a test drive. At least with this car I know at least 25 of the miles were put on by me during my test drive 😀.

The CPO will add on two year warranty and so a full 6 year warranty
That being said it will cost them 3K to CPO and so they might look at putting that cost onto you which if you intend to keep the car for a while is a relatively cheap extended warranty especially if you actually intend to drive the car and put on miles.
If you sell it before the end then it will still bring back value to you

Earlier this year I was looking for a 2018 (ish) CPO GTS Cab, which was proving difficult to find. During my search, I came across a CPO 992 C2S Cab with 350 miles on it at a local dealer. Original retail was in the $148K range. I ended up buying the 992 with the CPO warranty (and prepaid service included) for around $140K. Love the car!

My first two 991.2's had 300-500 miles on them and huge discounts. I took them and has ZERO issues. And no CPO. Seems silly to CPO for 300 miles. I would buy it with the 7.5% off and run.

Some people are getting 5% off, but not easily and not many. I do think you can shoot for 10% but be prepared to not get it. These cars do not start showing up again in earnest until October/November and many of those are already spoken for as customer orders. So, it is a seller's market right now.
