For better or worse, I'm going to pick up my Carbonio mount tomorrow (the one w/ adhesives). Will probably make a new thread reviewing the process (if I don't mess it up).

EDIT: attach w hot glue - what did you use? any potential issues using something like this?
I have used this method on three cars now and it works great.
The only minor issue that I found was the potential for the magnets to attract ferrous particles.
I had ppf installed to protect the paint, so it wasn't really a big deal, just something to be aware of.

I was hoping the magnets would be a lower cost and effective solution; however, if the front bumper needs to be removed, then it is not an option for me, and I will have ro spring for a high cost carbonio solution.

Are you going for the higher mount or the lower mount from Carbonio?

Not sure I understand your question. Their current website shows just one version for non ACC. I plan to mount it in the center and middle of my bumper so that it does not extend below the bottom of the bumper. Here is the link:

If you don't have ACC, both versions will work for your car. The one version "with ACC" has a higher mounting position that some prefer. Although it requires messing around with some adhesives which is a lot more annoying.

We absolutely don't. The only time we really target plates is if we need probable cause to pull over a car and check out the driver or we write the violation in addition to other violations on the citation. Nice cars tend to receive a pass because the drivers of nice cars aren't usually the motorists out hooliganing. I've never written a citation solely for a vehicle not having a front plate.

Can anyone comment on the likelihood of getting a ticket for no front plate in Texas, specifically in the Houston area? The fine is high -- up to $200

I can't quote you a statistic for getting stopped solely for a missing front license plate, but if you get stopped by HPD for anything else, you will also be written up for no front plate. Now it's my understanding that the Texas Highway Patrol can and will stop you for no front plate only.

I think it really depends on your luck. In my city, there was someone who said they went 4 years without a plate and then got ticketed twice in a month. You really can't predict these things because it really depends on the cop that sees you, what they're up to at the moment, and whether or not they think it's worth pulling you over. Your chances of getting pulled over is probably less than for a broken taillight, but as with all things stochastic, you just have to roll the dice.

Thanks, given how high the ticket cost is in Texas, I am leaning towards buying the Carbonio license plate bracket. Unfortunately, I prefer the bumper location of the non-ACC bracket, so the cost will be $279+10 shipping. I really wish that they gave Rennlist members some sort of discount.

Not to mention that in places like Martindale, TX, that gets all it's revenue from passing folks they'll ticket you if they feel you're breathing too heavily. Ask me how I know - and no, no love even with a Hawaii DL in a Hyundai Santa Fe... (must have been the car...)

In AK however, last time I was stopped he wanted to "look" at the car and commented on the plates saying "you weren't living up to those right?" 😉

For those who are interested in the Carbonio mount. I made a post here detailing the process w/ plenty of pictures: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1286...l#post17940945

Default Anyone used a sticker

I saw a 992 parked yesterday, and it had a license plate sticker on the front. I didn't snap a photo, but then looked it up. There are lots of companies that will send you one that looks identical to your metal back plate, and claim they are legal. I'm not crazy about any front plate, but this seems a good alternative to attaching a contraption. Here's a photo:
