What is the purpose of the heat shielding? Is it to prevent CEL? Is there no CEL guarantee without the heatshield?

How is it that FabSpeed is the only one that gets no CEL? Don't they all use the same HJS core?
Edit : From JCR's website "For cars with no OPF monitoring our Race Cats will not cause any CEL and do not require any tuning."

JCR's prior posts indicated no CEL, can anyone confirm or deny that claim?

I hope someone from JCR can confirm that they haven’t had any problems with a CEL on 2021+ US models.

How would the Valved Exhaust sound with stock cats and stock valve programming? (if I didn’t want to worry about CEL at all)
edit: I want to avoid drone in the 1800-2400 rpm range as I daily this car and drive in that range a lot.
I’m debating it.
I plan to tune in a couple years when the warranty is done, at which point I can disable cold start and change the valve programming. I could even consider adding cats to the valved exhaust at that point for stage 2 since the tune could turn off the CEL. Other option is to stay stock and just add cats plus valved exhaust in 2 years when I tune.

Also regarding tuning to “get rid of” the CEL, people dont understand that all tune is doing is not running the catalyst efficiency monitors. Which means your cat monitor is always in “not ready” state. All its doing is eliminating the icon from flashing. But if you were to go through emission testing, your car wouldnt pass. So the tune doesnt cheat the emission test into passing, all its doing is not running the test ever. So I would never spend $2,500 just to eliminate CEL. You will eventually have to go through emission testing which will ultimately turn into a headache (remove tune so monitor runs, which will trigger CEL, then you need to revert to stock setup, etc).
