IMHO the only cars that really need a fire estinguisher are the super condition classics that can't be replaced-ie 428 Mustang, early Corvette fuelies, etc.

Factory Installed one for my 992T. I expect to see it missing when it arrives at the port in the USA... Euro Delivery cars usually have them taken during shipping, so I already ordered the replacement extinguisher (You can buy from Suncoast now direct, or you can source from the marketplace here!)... Getting mine custom painted to match the Rubystar exterior and Racing Yellow belts

If you're gonna go with the fire extinguisher... I would also include a carbon monoxide detector, a life jacket, and maybe a parachute.... just in case.

I’m going out on a limb and saying it’s designed to assist others if a fire situation arose.

slightly reviving an old thread here, but i do have these for you, or anyone else that’s been running into situations with the port/Euro Delivery lately.

edited - posted the below before realizing I posted last year, and didn’t get any responses lol.

The comments regarding just let your car burn are unbelievable. At least with an extinguisher, you have an option. Very cheap insurance. I track my car, and the most common fires are the off-track into the dry grass…. having the ability to put out a small grass fire underneath the rear of my car so it doesn’t burn to the ground sure seems like a no-brainer. My club track is super casual, and it could be minutes before anyone makes it out with an extinguisher/water.

Has anyone installed this one in the 992? $260 is priced right.

I found this install video on a 991- guy had to modify the bracket, doesn’t like like an ideal setup.

Its shocking to hear these responses, from off track grass fires to a car on fire on the side of the road with a family in it. it’s always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

With most aftermarket fire extinguisher solutions, often times they do limit seat movement or leg room. They are also typically bulky due to the “head” design. If you are open to options, we have the complete, OEM Porsche 992 Fire Extinguisher kit that bolts to the seat. Install in 992’s is beyond simple as well.

The real reason you have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle is for track days. And its not to put out the fire in your car - its to pull over and put out the fire of the guy that just when off the track in front of you, to help give him a chance to exit the car. In most scenarios, the track emergency workers take 1 to 2 minutes to get to the car, if you are right behind the incident, you are there in 10 seconds. You bridge that gap. I always had one in my track car, and used it one time between 1996 and 2014 when I was a track junkie. Another car went off T1 at Summit Point and hit the tree line, I was three cars back, pulled over by the gravel trap, grabbed the extinguisher and ran up to his car. It did not catch fire, but the car hit the trees so hard some part of the fuel system ruptured and I could smell the gasoline. He had impacted on the driver's door, was dazed and could not open the driver's door so he was unable to exit quickly. But had the car caught fire (BMW 3 series) I was ready to put it out. That's why you carry them.

I ordered mine with a factory one (didn't get stolen) but lately I also carry the Element extinguisher (https://www.hst.global/product-page/...e-extinguisher) in all my cars. Maybe for me, maybe for someone who may need it but as others have chimed, it's good to have.

So what's the best fire extinguisher for the front passenger seat in the factory position? Should I order a factory unit or is there a better choice with after market?

I have an aftermarket meth system in my car and it worries me on occasion, if there was a leak, I should have something...

Thanks
