Default Sources of 992 Tires

Have a 992 Carrera S and need new rear tires. Tire Rack is backordered with no date indicated for Goodyear OEM spec. Are there other reliable USA sources. Left rear tire had encounter with long 1/2 inch diameter bolt yesterday. Likely flipped by truck I was passing as I would have most likely seen an object that big in road.

Recently (1-month) had a front (P0) replaced by the dealer. You might try your SA? A week ago I tried to purchase some fairly standard sized Michelins for an SUV through tirerack and national discount tire - neither could get them claiming COVID factory shutdown would take many months before replenishment.

Looks like Pirellii P0s are available in Porsche spec but assume I would need to buy for all four wheels. Only 3000 mi on the Goodyear originals. Found several sites and no luck on Goodyear. Will check with Porsche dealer tomorrow.

I second trying your dealer. I had to replace a flat once...had the car towed to the the dealer. Figured the last place you’d want to have to purchase a tire is from a Porsche dealer, but to my amazement they charged LESS than Tire Rack or Discount Tire. As an added bonus they included tire insurance for the life of the tire!

I bought Non-N tires and dropped them off day before appointment. No problem for dealer to install.

Got new Goodyear from Porsche Tire Sales. Was actually cheaper than Tire Rack price. Also own a 2013 Cayenne GTS that needed new tires. Got 4 Porsche rated Michelin tires from Porsche dealer at a price lower than Tire Rack. Checked the web site of several Porsche dealers and it appears that recently Porsche set up a tire supply service for their dealers.

This is good to hear—the last time I was offered tires from a dealer they were 2x the cost of Discount/Tire Rack.

So is Tire Rack getting cocky (raising their prices / not providing good discounts) OR did Porsche finally wake up to the missed business opportunity?

I've been running non-N rated PS4S tires all summer (315's in the rear). I'd rather have the best tire available on my car than worry about having N-rated tires. And I have the original set of basically brand new N-rated tires in storage so that I can put them back on the car when it's time to sell it or trade it in.

I asked a Michelin rep this very question (several months ago...spring time) and the answer was a vague one, but indicated late 2020. Can't wait for my Goodyears to give up the ghost and put on a set of 4Ss'!
