Default DMTL pump failure

Just wondering if anyone else has had a DMTL pump failure on their 992? Base Carrera with around 6k miles January delivery. Check engine light came on. Reset the light and it came back. Dropped it off at a dealer a couple days ago and they say it's bad and ordering a new one. Any other guys with this issue?

How odd ; you drop car off at dealer and they ( supposedly) tell you what the problem is , and instead of asking the people diagnosing and reporting the problem as to what they refer ....you go to Google. .I guess its a modern form of displacement behaviour .

You don't know what you don't know. I didn't know what a DMTL was, but now I do thanks to this thread! Plus, now I think I understand a bit how the system works that warns if you don't tighten the cap on the gas tank.

So at the risk of having no idea what I'm talking about (see above), is it possible that you don't need a new DMTL and you didn't tighten the gas cap? I'm 99% certain the dealer would have checked that, but just wondering aloud...

This is a common issue on BMW models; so much so that all the sales persons admonish you to always ensure the fuel cap is tightened correctly, and almost every call to service results in the same question; "Please check that the fuel cap is tightened correctly."

mine faulted after I overfilled the tank a couple of times, when I stopped doing that it went away.

If you keep filling after the Click when the pump turns off.. AKA topping your tank off. Not good to do on some sports cars.

Good for you! I'm too busy driving my cars to worry about how they fix it. If it keeps breaking, I'll dump it and get a new one. As for the google comments above, I attached a link that explained what the pump did answering his question. I didn't need to know what the pump did because I don't care!

As for the new part, backordered out of Germany, so the dealer told me to take it and keep driving until the parts come in.
