OLED displays in 992
Porsche really should have found a supplier for OLEDs in the new 992 dash. The backlight glow already makes the new mostly digital dash look dated...

I'm hoping that the 971.2 Panamera brings a full update to the digital dash that trickles down to the 911 and other models. It's shame that with two large screens, there's very little customizability.

Looks pretty state of the art to me, and I like how easily readable it is in bright light.... my one complaint is it's hard to dim at night ... unless I'm doing something wrong.

OLEDs aren't ready for prime time in automotive service. The MTBF would be as bad or worse as it was back in the days of the #44 pilot lamp, but the replacement cost would be a thousand times higher. Not even Porsche wants to go there yet.

I could see brightness being an issue with OLEDs in a cabin during daytime.

From C&D:
No surprise there. In 15 years, a typical GM product is ready for the glue factory, while a Porsche is just getting broken in.
At least that's how it's worked in the past. I stand corrected in the general case, though, as it seems that quite a few manufacturers are rushing to adopt OLED tech. Bold move, Cotton, let's see how that works out forthem their customers.
Craig Zinser, director of Cadillac's infotainment division, says his team found ways to lengthen the life of its OLEDs; he estimates they'll last at least 15 years.

Respectfully disagree, but I guess it depends what you are coming from. I'm quite pleased with the dash of the 992, and agree with the others that it makes the 991.2 interior (along with my previous 15 Macan Turbo) look extremely dated.

The replacement cost will be excessive. So excessive that I wonder if Cadillac will do the right thing and replace screens if a large-scale burn-in issue arises... or if they will refuse to eat the cost, and simply pretend it’s not an issue- kind of like BMW did with the 2017 M3/M4 comp packages, and that infamous defective special wheel/tire combo...

Agreed, I thought the same thing when first seeing the dash in my 992 at night. What's odd is that the Taycan seems not to suffer from this issue, but I'm not sure if it's because they're using a better display panel or just an optical illusion created by the display edges being contoured to perfectly match the shape of the dash housing with extremely small bezels.
