I would have been fine with the home depot 10 dollar tub, I just want something to put in there to ease in clean up when something spills (notice When not If)...
OK, you got me...spilled sunflower oil would make a mess in the frunk and a liner would make cleanup way easier. Takeout always goes in the passenger footwell with the heat and blower set to max, and the carpeted floor mat has been known to sop up a few leaking sauces.

The can is sealed (sort of) in plastic wrap, so it didn't all leak out. I'm not sure what happened really, but it was about 0°F outside around that time, so I wonder if maybe it froze and the plastic can cracked. Anyway, it didn't even know it happened for a while. The whole thing didn't quite leak out:

I texted my salesman about it and sent him a pic right when I noticed and he said he would put a note in my service file about it, but then I forgot to mention it when I brought the car in for an oil change recently. I'm going back in there next week and I'll ask them to clean up the carpet and give me a new can of sealant.

Look into WeatherTech's offerings:

I’m a huge fan of WeatherTech - have used their floor mats and cargo liners for two different vehicles, and always a perfect fit.

I also like the full bin on mine, I put luggage (or will again one day). Luggage wheels are hard on carpet - scraping in and out.

And the built in cooler, is a bonus as well !

I have the WeatherTech mat (and their floor mats that I use during the winter, in summer the original carpet comes back out). It's a perfect fit. In other cars, their mats have saved me from some otherwise nasty spills. While it's only the floor mat and not a full liner, I would use a cooler anyway if using it to store beverages, as I can't imagine things would stay very cool in there (I suppose with enough ice...).

Ok, did a Home Depot run today and turns out their 17-Gallon HDX bin mentioned at the top of the thread doesn't fit in the 992 C2S, unlike the 991.2. So, I went one size down and came up with a winner: the 12-Gallon bin works fine. There is a little space (about 6 inches) left on one side, but the reason I wanted a bin was to store things that could potentially leak, like gallons of milk or any other liquid. A great deal for under $8 bucks, especially with the lid as a shelf. https://www.homedepot.com/p/HDX-12-G...6100/207207157

Just the right size for an OEM car cover bag to fit on top.

@morrisryanc, thanks for sharing the results of your experiment. Since the bin isn't flush with the frunk sides, did you hear it sliding around at all while driving, or was it inaudible from inside the cabin?

That's the thing, the forward/aft size of the bin is very snug against the carpet of the frunk, so it doesn't slide laterally. If it did, I would have returned it. A winning solution in my book. YMMV

Thanks for showing us the 12 gallon bin option; much appreciated. As far as sliding, that's an easy fix as I will put my first aid kit and a couple of other items along side of it to keep it stationary.

I bought the OEM liner when I bought the car, so it was actually installed when I took delivery.

Based on this thread I took a good look at it... it actually eats up a fair amount of square inches. Dunno why they designed the storage area to be inset from like a 1.5” lip all around the top.

so I just ordered the weathertech option, the 401324. It sits at the bottom of the trunk, so all the storage space is available...

I just got the 17-gallon bin from Home Depot for my 981 and it fits quite well. It's not flush, but it isn't loose and won't rattle. You lose a small amount of space, but it doesn't bother me at all.
