Default Market introduction Vehicle S9T

I saw a certified car with this option listed. Is that a Press car or something I should stay away from. I couldn’t find any information on it online what do you guys think? Car have 9000 miles and is like 30K below MSRP.

Yes, these are press cars. Driven hard.

I'd put press cars somewhere between a rental car and a salvage title.

Agreed...but could be a pretty decent candidate for someone looking to build a track-only car.

wise words... Barring the few who might disagree on the critical importance of breaking in a car properly (and not just talking the engine here, but many other systems)... The reality is these cars were driven hard, and put away wet quite a few number of times... I'd want a steep discount and a Porsche extended warranty to go down this path, and even then there is nothing like taking delivery of your car with 9 miles on the odo and doing it all right from he get go yourself.

Interesting how some press cars received the S9T coded, and some did not. For example, this GT3RS was a press car, but it does not have the code.

There are S9T vehicles (992, Cayennes, etc.) with 0-200 miles for sale at dealers. S9T does not mean inherently they are press cars; they are cars from the first batch of production of the model year.

S9T code is also used by Audi.

I'd ask the SA there where the car came from, who was the previous owner; then search through car magazine websites to see whether they've had it in the fleet or not.

How are you able to tell this was a press car?

Before I came to terms with my dealer on a new 992 order... and ultimately getting over having to wait another 2-3 months. I was kicking tires on this car, as well as several others. (prospect of waiting again makes you impatient)

Discussed in detail with two of it's previous owners.

This car was featured in C&D Lightning Lap.

If you can live with A/C delete & radio delete. This is a great deal IMO. Talk with Denis K @ Porsche SD

I swung by there the other day and saw that car and, because I’m impatient, briefly considered it. But if I was getting a 3RS I’d rather have a ‘19, and I don’t think I actually want a 3RS because they aren’t quick as practical as the 992. But then I see the pictures again and it tugs at me :-)

FWIW, I bought my first Porsche from them (‘98 Boxster) when it was still Pioneer Centres. I’ve not met Denis—I have been working with Daniel.

Cheers,

Mark

It's funny, I had the same exact thought process. Went to the dealer while I was in Escondido, took it for a drive and loved it. I just couldn't see it as a double-duty car, even though the price was right. My plans from the start were to get a 992 and make it my last 911. So I loaded it up.. the 992 is going to give a 16 GT3RS a run for it's money. It may not be the fastest & best 911 option out there today.. but when it launched, it was the ultimate 911.

No A/C, no radio. It's truly as raw a 911 experience as you can get. Though I would love to experience that kind of ownership. In the end, and to your point; it's just not practical enough.

Also knowing how hard it has been driven early in its life, and the 16 GT3RS engine issues. Chances are the engine will give out, and you can use the CPO warranty to get a brand new engine put in.

The thought of owning a car that has it's own video & article from C&D using the car you own has a cool factor too it as well.

https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...storical-data/

It's #7 on the LL4 group, and #22 overall. Pretty good numbers.

Interesting that C&D hasn't posted a 992S lap time yet though.

I'm right there with you though, I see photos of it... and watch the C&D video that brings me back to my test drive.... Then I think to myself, maybe I can go without A/C on a 100 degree day?? Keep it over 80 & windows down.. sweat it out lol

Maybe not

Bingo. No radio I could live with. No A/C? Not so much :-)

But that video—it’s like I’m an addict and you just waved a baggie under my nose :-) (Although I don’t love the helmet-mounted camera in the bottom of the screen.)
