Powder coating wheels?
I’m toying with the idea of powder coating a set of my wheels and would love opinions/experiences people have had.
I have two sets of the standard 19/20 wheels. The set that came on my C4 and I purchased an additional set with winter tires on them.
Given that I have two sets, I thought about powder coating one set in either satin black or satin platinum.
My C4 is Aventurine Green and I think either color would look good. The one consideration is that I have silver window trim, so not sure if changing the wheel color will “clash” with that trim.
The other, much more costly option would be to sell a set and purchase the 20/21 spyder design wheels...

When I had my M3 e90, it cost 100$ per wheel to sandblast the original finish and apply my choice of color.
Perfect job, looked like factory, but more durable as the factory uses liquid paint.

Be aware that wheel manufacturers prefer one method over the other. Marchesini informed me that they prefer paint, as the heat curing of some PC processes may damage wheels. That being said, many people have it done with good results, it seems. I like colors that hide brake dust.

I had the OEM wheels powder coated to a satin black metallic on my Macan Turbo, I thought they turned out great. I originally wanted satin platinum as well, but the shop I used couldn’t get the color matched to what I wanted. No issues with the wheels in the 6 years of ownership and much more cost effective than buying a new set if you like the style of the wheel. IIRC, the whole job was around $700.

Stick with silver wheels for two reasons. First, as you mentioned, they complement the silver trim. Second, with all due respect to those that have dark wheels on their Aventurine cars, I don't think Aventurine goes well with black wheels. Gray sort of works, but silver and Aurum look best in my opinion. Not that I'm a fashionista, but if I was wearing dark green pants, I would never pair them with black shoes.

Brown shoes would be fine though. So how come I have never seen brown painted wheels? I would prefer brown over that gaudy shiny gold that some people choose for their wheel color.

Definitely brown shoes. I remember seeing a pic of a 911 with bronze wheels (maybe HREs?), and it looked very nice. Might be worth checking into for the OP.
