Default Front License Plate

Any suggestions for a front license plate bracket that I don’t have to screw into the bumper. Can’t pass inspection in MA without one.

Get a tow hook mount to use for your inspections. Then, take it off and don't bother with it.

I’m not sure what exactly the rules in your area are, but I have a constant need to go onto a military base and they require a front plate and enforce it. So I just purchased a silicone plate frame on amazon and set it on my dash when I go on base. Otherwise I keep it tucked next to my drivers seat on the left.

You can get a tow hook plate that blocks the parking sensors. Rho makes a tow hook plate holder that clears the parking senors, but it doesn't look very good.

Carbonio is apparently coming out with a solution that looks clean, but it is not due until late July.

Skene has an option that requires you to drill under the hood (not in front), but apparently the offical manufacturers line is that it wont fit on the 992. Some forumers have speculated it might.

CCmustangbrackets is another option that has been brought up, but I have yet to see it used on a 992.

Im in the same boat. Not sure at the moment what I will do.

This is what I used in Massachusetts for many years. I actually only had the plate physically attached for about 15 minutes/year. Just enough time to have the car inspected.

A friend of mine picked up a retractable license plate holder on Ebay that he uses on his GTS. I'm not sure of the name- and I'm guessing they have to fit certain cars--but it may be worth looking into.

I just checked--it was the Sto N Sho

You'd be surprised. As long as it matches the registration, uses the standard state colors, and is legible, many states are fine with it. For example, this flies in Pennsylvania and it's not even the same aspect ratio.

I'm actually surprised that this would be enforced, because so many states have no plates on the front of the car. Not questioning what you're experiencing -- aside from Wright-Patterson, I haven't been onto a military base in decades.. I am just surprised that it would be enforced at the gate.Good to know.

I had two of these in Mariner Blue - did I sell this one to you? MX-5’s are so much fun on PA back roads.

Not my car. It's just someone that I see regularly at car events. Yes, they're perfect for PA back roads.

I used a Skene on my 991.2 and it was easy to install and worked well. There are drill holes, but it is underneath the bumper cover so when removed, you don’t see them. This license plate sticker above looks like a good solution, and not sure if you would get stopped. I think mostly they want to be able to take a photo from mobile and stationary surveillance systems.

They want the plates on the front so that radar detectors can bounce off the flat surface and they can get a read, so maybe the sticker isn't a bad idea after all- although I hate the idea of putting a sticker on.

I use one of those for my Mini and it’s a great option.
