992 C2S or 991.1 GT3
#16
Guys I could use some opinions from the Porsche community. Currently I am driving a Camaro 1le daily. I am looking at moving into a 911. I am on the fence if i want to go with a lightly optioned 992 C2S or go with a 2015 CPO 991.1 GT3. This car will become a weekend car and not a daily driver. I am hoping to visit a local dealer that has a CPO GT3 and new 992s. The car wont be tracked but i certainly will be doing some spirited driving. Looking for any opinions good or bad. I am new to the Porsche community and watched just about every 992 video on Youtube....I slowly have become obsessed and completely talked my self out of the much cheaper C8 Corvette. I am 27 and not ready for the old man vette just yet despite how sick the new C8 is.
Thanks!
Thanks!
But honestly I don't drive it alot, and do weekends so it suits me great. But if I daily drove and grocery got in it I would opt for the Turbo since it super smooth and stereo is good for cruising, but the GT3 is a bit more engaging and looks cooler, but its more alive and creates more excitement for me.

So, as a update i went to the dealer yesterday and drove both cars. First i drove the GT3.......and woah what a experience. I got out of the car thinking there is no way I will want anything else but this car. The sound, the speed, the grip, the turn in......and holy **** what a freak of a motor. Did I mention the sound that thing makes? Glorious
Then i hopped into a 992 anticipating to be underwhelmed. Whelp the opposite happened. 1 the interior speaks for it self. Second after driving down the road a few miles. I love the turn in I felt like i was able to push this car harder than the GT3 and it had plenty of power. I do not know anything else but the HP numbers but i would bet the 992 is faster than the GT3 in a line and on a track. Also, these cars get alot of hate about the sound coming out of the 3.0T and to be honest i think it sounds great. With the sport exhaust and valves open it makes some really fun turn sounds along with the groan of the 3.0. I was amazed with how good the 992 was and it turned me off of the GT3. I could not believe it.
Anyway if your still reading my **** writing It looks like I am going to end up ordering a 2021 992 2s. I have to work them down on the numbers but it looks like my mind is made up.
Thanks for all of the opinions. This will be my first Porsche and as much as i love my 2017 Camaro SS 1LE this 1 hour test drive experience wrecked that car for me. I drove home feeling like i was driving a under powered tracker trailer.

Interesting report - I’m not surprised. It’s very hard to fully exploit a GT3 on the street. A 992 is going to be more accessible that way and is a more realistic option for an exclusively street driven car. Doesn’t change that the GT3 is awesome. But they make different tools for a reason. Either way, congrats!

2014 GT3 has worst resale of the three model years, as 100% of those cars had an engine replacement.

I seem to recall reading a post or a thread or maybe an article about this. I think a bunch of GT3 owners ended up meeting with some very senior Porsche folks due to the significant failure of the engines and the underlying reason. It was interesting how Porsche handled it (I think, from this particular group of owners, they were relatively satisfied).

The 10 year engine warranty on the 991.1 GT3s is very impressive, especially if you consider that most are owned by track rats. I alsocovers the replacement engine. For me, that would be a factor. I'd want one with little or no track time.
I Love the wing and the engine, but the lack of options is still the greatest obstacle for me. Sunroof, Bose, keyless, parking sensors, ventilated seats (Florida), etc, etc. And I like my pushbutton adjustable ride settings.
When I get bored with my catless 470 Hp 991.2 C2S with X51, I'll install a tune. Getting rid of OEM cats really helps with the aural pleasures. When I get bored with that, I'll trade for a used 991.2 Turbo S with Aerokit. And later a tune. Etc, etc.

Randomly decided to look for Tourings for sale because of this thread, happened across this; I think the ask is bit rich, but what a gorgeous spec: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used...ting=268999791
Looks like PTS with tons of interior customizations as well. EDIT: and looks like BBS FI-R. I wonder if the previous owner is on rennlist.

I will opt. for 992 CS between these two; if you really want to get GT3, you must get 991.2 GT3 with that RSR derived 4.0L fixed tappet engine.
991.1 GT3 3.8L engine had a design flaw, even though Porsche was trying to workaround it.
Better yet, if I was at your age of 27 and money no object, I would go payment down on GT4RS wait list.
