Yep, started out at 40 degrees and got up into the 60s. I will be on the winter wheels/tires for the next drive.

Looks like you picked the very expensive, high maintenance option package.
Excellent pictures. Nice that she shares your interest in these cars.

Burning Brakes
Sorry, you can deduct "points" for not having the 992 in these pictures if you wish. But here are a few pictures from an awesome drive of what is called the Diamondback (Diamondback Info) along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There weren't too many cars on a Thursday in early November but the weather was awesome (the traffic is always really heavy in October but then that's when it's the prettiest):
View of the Little Switzerland Inn; ate lunch behind retaining wall.
Close up of outdoor eating area; sunny, warm and a nice breeze.
A close up of the view. For some reason, I couldn't get my panoramic photo to load that was really spectacular.

On temporary vacation
People think we're nuts. My fiscally responsible friends tell me it's too expensive. My politically conservative friends say it's too liberal. My east coast friends ask why I want to move so far away. About 15 years ago, a friend of mine got a vanity plate for his 65th birthday. It said 20 SMMRS. I asked what it meant, and he said he figured he had 20 summers left to have fun. He's a very active guy who skis, boats, fishes, hikes and enjoys good food and drink (he's still doing all that at 80). Well, I turned 65 last October, and I'm looking forward the spending my 20 summers in a state with great weather, great beaches, great forests and great mountains and in a city with excellent food and lots of fun things to do. If it costs me a few extra dollars to do that, so be it. Sorry this post is off topic, but I'll post pics of my first 992 drive when I get it next year.
You’re not. Nuts, that is. Only downside I see, is cost of living, and if you’re buying a 992, it sounds like money is not an issue for you.
Born and raised in Ca. Grew up in Coronado (across the bridge in San Diego) and went to college at Cal. Eventually, my graduate work and subsequent jobs took me East. My boys live in Chicago and Seattle. If you like doing things outdoors, hard to beat most of the West Coast for weather and activities. As for politics - SoCal was always a bastion of conservative politics. As both my wife and I are Independents, we can, and have voted for both party candidates. I value the persons integrity and positions on issues, over party allegiance. But unlike much of the South, I think you will find, on average, an educated and informed group in California. I briefly lived in North Carolina, and found that once you ventured out of an urban area, like Charlotte or Raleigh, it got real red neck, real fast. pretty much the same for much of the South. Not for me.
Anyway, good luck!
