Default Possible changes on the 992.2?

Yes, I know...this is a ways off, but I'm interested to hear: What changes folks around here anticipating for the 992.2 when it comes around? What aspects of the 992.1 do you think Porsche will look at and say, "We need to make that better and/or change that."

Will the C2S and C4S see introduction of a hybrid system?

From a cosmetic standpoint, I liked the changes that were made to the rear vent cover on the 991.1 ---> 991.2, I hope that the 992.2 sees some tasteful revisions the rear vent cover when the time comes.

I don't think that you're going to see much change to the vent cover given the relocated heat exchangers. Porsche might do something with the brake light, but those slats will be vertical for this generation.

Here are my guesses for the 992.2
  • Porsche will introduce a new headlight design that will make the older cars look dated -- guaranteed, because they always do this). :P
  • Front fascia and rear bumper design changes, possibly inspired by the 992 TT/TTS design tweaks -- guaranteed like above
  • Particulate filters will be a strong possibility for all markets as Porsche has indicated so much
  • Hybrid revealed as the promised new 911 category/model and priced above the TT/TTS. Carreras won't see a real hybrid drivetrain until after the 992.2.
  • Manual will finally trickle down to the Base engine in limited markets, like the US, not available elsewhere due to emissions/fuel economy regulations.
  • Some previously exclusive S options will trickle down to the Base Carrera to effectively be a T package for the base car to boost sales.
  • Heads up display with a Porsche twist, because everyone is doing this now
  • Apple's CarKey support for truly keyless entry -- Apple is being aggressive with this

Yeah, that makes sense. I like the vertical slats, though I could certainly do without the brake light.

This is one factor that could keep me from waiting for the 992.2 and just go for a 992.1. Not looking forward to how OPFs will sound on these cars.

I agree with all these. The only thing I wish they did is go back to a ''normal'' door handle, not a fan of this one.

I agree also, but don't forget the gratuitous hp bump!

Probably pretty accurate list there for once on rennlist haha. Id expect power to go from 450 to 470 in the .2 as well for S motor as well...with the gts .2 at 500 or 510

I don't think GPF is in the works for NA, or even any country outside of EU.

Also look for larger brakes a la Taycan PCCBs --- 8 or 10 piston up front and 6 pistons in the rear.

Replace the nubbin with a classic PDK shifter. Or at least a redesign. Maybe a rotary.

I've read that the 992 Turbo will have GPFs worldwide, so I assume that all variants of the 992.2 may come with this. From Autoevolution:

A sports exhaust option will also make a premiere on a model wearing the 911 Turbo badge, but don't expect too much hooliganism coming out of it since the new model comes equipped as standard with a gas particulate filter (GPF) no matter the market it will be sold on.

Porsche is on a seven year cycle, with the x.1 running years 1 - 4, and the x.2 running years 5 - 7. So the 992.2 should be a MY24 and will probably be released in CY23.

GPF will definitely be in for Europe and China due to regulations. Smaller countries using those certifications will get them too. If Porsche can manage engine out particulates with the over square flat 6 as well as some other companies can with more conventional designs then I don’t see the 992.2 getting GPF’s in North America.
