Windshield Wipers Turn on by themselves!?!?
Had the car 2+ weeks. 590 miles. I've been noticing the windshield wiper will do a little "spasm" or jump while the system is off, usually I notice during auto stop at a light and the car is quiet. I made note of that to report to dealer. Then today, the wiper turns on all the way by itself! One swipe across windshield that's it. No rain, so it wasn't auto wiping. This and I've had the clock reset by itself a couple times. Im getting worried the computer system in this car is screwed up. Anyone else have these issues? I hope its not serious can be easily fixed with an update or something. WEIRD.

Thanks for the reply. No, I'm not talking about the chrono, it is the actual time of day - it has randomly changed times to some other time. It happened only twice. Hopefully that's gone! But the wiper thing definitely abnormal.

Happens to me 4-5 times on any drive. The wiper on the far right side always does a little spasm every once in a while lol.

Looks like Porsche has adopted the "wiper flip" feature Audi has used for years - basically it's flipping the edge of the wiper so it doesn't set in one direction. Good idea but I agree the 992 seems to do it very frequently!
Unique to Porsche AFAIK is the power window shuffle the car does occasionally also. Seems to reseat the closed windows on its own - my 991 did this and so does the 992...

Normal. It's in the manual. 991' s also do this . Also not unusual for an occasional ghost wipe with automatic ww , especially if they are set to high sensitivity.. The sensor sees something it interprets as a rain drop. Haven't owned a vehicle yet that doesn't do that.

People would really do themselves a favor if they read their Owner's Manual.
Even in the 992 GT3 owner's manual, Page #87

It's done to keep the wiping edge of the blade free and in position to wipe. It's not an overly sensitive rain sensor error. Supposedly it prevents the blade from freezing to the windscreen in cold weather. I guess it's a German thing and it's unneccesary in warm climates IMO.

Mine too and it's been like that for 12K miles. Oh well. On another note, on a 992T, if you have the windows down when you stop the car, the window goes back up about 1.5" after you shut off the car.
