Default Porsche Umbrella in a 992..

18 odd years ago I bought a new Boxster S. At the time I was 29 and struggled to afford it and my then new house. After 10 months the cost was just too much, so I, (very begrudgingly) sold it (with 10,000 miles on).

The one thing I did keep was my black Porsche umbrella that I got with the car. On a 2003 Boxster the passenger side had a slot in the door sill that let you fit a Porsche folding umbrella. I always joked that after I added deprecation from the Boxster it was the most expensive umbrella I have ever bought, so I held on to it and have been using it in cars ever since. Fast forward a few years later and I bought a 997 911. By pure chance the umbrella fitted this car too, amazing. Sadly, by the time we get to my first 991 in 2013 Porsche had removed the space in the door sill and so the umbrella spent its life jammed into the passenger door bin. Anyway, 2020 and imagine my delight that the new 992 has a slot in the door sill, (again)!!! However, while the umbrella does fit, unfortunately it sits about an inch too tall... (But it does fit much like the 991 in the door bin.

So my question, (after boring you with my silly tale) is: Is there a new style umbrella that fits somewhere in the car and/or has anyone else been moving a nearly 20 year old "anything" between cars?

Hope you are all safe and well,

Tom

Love this - umbrella fitting in a car reminds me of the Rolls-Royce cars that come with a little tunnel in the car to store a large UK-style umbrella.

Off topic..How did you get houndstooth seats in a 992? Asking for a friend. LOL.

Edit: I guess that was the 991.

I bought this one and it fits perfectly in the passenger door sill compartment.

That’s the Sport-Tex seat fabric option on the 992

Thanks all. It looks like most of the available umbrellas are just slightly updated versions of my Boxster one. However, they didn't have the leather case.

Michael, (great name, it was my Dads name too), as Vishal says, its the Sport-Tex option for the 992. Together with the Alcantara roof, steering wheel and centre armrest, I can't tell you how over the moon/in love I am with the combination....

Tom

Sure, here’s one I just took. Apparently you also need Sport-Tex seats to have a Porsche umbrella

Out of curiosity, is it a pretty nice umbrella? Trying to decide between this and a quality umbrella I like that should fit (blunt metro).

My 992 has full leather Black/Bordeaux Red interior. So, sport-tex maybe in next generation 911
