Default Keyless/Comfort Access question

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked.

Does anyone know if the dummy key can be removed for cars with/without the comfort access box checked and the normal key be inserted instead?

Yes. If you have the dummy key just sit in the car and place your real key outside and turn the dummy key as if you want to start the car. After a couple times you will get an alert that states to turn the car left and remove.

Sweet thanks. Unchecking comfort access.

I knew you could remove it on the cayenne but wasn't sure about the 911 since they all come with keyless start.

I just want to put the key in.... I'm weird.

This is good to know because I'm weird, too. I just like inserting the key and turning it with my left hand.

Can you send a picture how the key fits in the lock?
I tried to remove how you said, but my dummy does not move.

So basically exactly the same procedure as with 991?

Here's a video showing how this is done in 991:

Can someone with a 992 snap some pictures what it looks like after the dummy is removed?

I have a car on order and basically specced Keyless Entry because if I’m forced to start the car with a dummy, the idea of taking the key out of my pocket just to unlock the car seemed weird. If I could start the car with the key though, like I do in my 991, it’s a different story.

Yeah, I love that too. By weird I meant having to put it back into my pocket afterwards and starting the car with a dummy. I think it should either be fully manual - press remote to open and then insert the key to start the car - or fully keyless - keep it in the pocket at all times.

In my 992, I cannot remove the dummy. Also, the key looks different than before. It is also not mentioned anywhere in the manual.
So, I doubt this works. As keyless start is standard, why should it at all?

Went to the dealer today. Can confirm that the dummy key cannot be removed on the 992S. Shame, guess I'm adding comfort access back.

Interesting...wonder what the logic behind that decision was.

Hey Trackmunkey, so if you order comfort access, then you can remove dummy key and turn vehicle on by inserting actual key?

thank you in advance, in the process of config..... any issue with comfort access? my dealer said no, but hear that on/off here

No, 992's dummy key cannot be removed.
Keyless start is standard.
Comfort access adds opening doors w/o key.

No unfortunately the ignition dummy key is permanent regardless of option chosen. I was hoping to not get comfort access and put the key in the ignition like the older cars. But since you cant I would feel silly unlocking the car with the key then putting it in my pocket to start the car. Seems dumb I know but oh well.
