992 soundcheck in detail - Base / Bose / Burmester (one is a big leap)

If you can't, you'll have to settle for the base which is not a good system

True, but you may be slowly damaging your precious cochlear hair cells, with attendant risk of hearing loss and tinnitus.
85 dB is the OSHA threshold for using hearing protection over 8 hours.
More than 85 dB, which I suspect may be the case in the scenario you're describing, mean exponentially shorter time duration for potential hearing loss.
I have tinnitus, mild to moderate and want to keep it that at that level. I suspect others in this thread may have tinnitus also.

So, 1st Porsche...992 T4S.
Bose sound system. I won't admit to how long it took me to realize that the bass and treble settings adjust positively and negatively.
At any rate, at idle and low speeds the stereo sounds great. At higher speeds in sounds "tinny". With the top down it's a whole different ball game and higher (much) volume seems to be the best solution.
I'm still messing around with surround/linear/soundtrue combinations but currently have the base at +3 and treble at -2.
Applicable thoughts anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

HF_992, I just ran into this thread, having just purchased a 2020 992 C4S to be retrieved this weekend; today is my first serious reading of this forum.. I too thank you very much for the time and effort of researching, preparing, and writing this review.
I've had Bose systems in several Porches over the years and as a hi-end audiofool, have never been much impressed with them...but I've never heard a Porsche-base system, so I simply am not aware of how much better Bose is than base.. I'll find out over the weekend just how good it is. 😁

If you enjoy music while you drive, get the Burmester. Especially good for a noisy car like the 911 as you can turn up the volume with very little distortion.
The extra 4K over bose may sound like a lot, but you are buying a 150K car so why compromise. I have heard both and there is a big difference in the sound.

These cars have stereo’s? Never had a use for one! My car isn’t a daily driver so when I’m driving it I’m only focusing on the sound and driving. To each his own.

Let me go find the sunroof thread so I can tell everyone how I specced mine without a sunroof because I never use them.

I did burmester 2 times and love it. Haven't regretted the premium over Bose. I'm actually kinda worried I won't like the Bose in the GT3. I know it's for the weight savings....
