992 Wheel Choice by Weights... Classics v Spyders? Who’s lighter?
Guys, I've been searching and can't find anything credible. I am trying to decide between Carrera Classic Wheels or the RS Spyder Design Wheels. Does anyone know the weight differences of the 2 types?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

You have to look at these things in person, preferably on the color car you are interested in. For my order I went with the standard wheels in satin platinum as I thought they were the best looking (not shiny, not black, just right). I was disappointed by the Carrera classics when I saw them in person, looked way better to my eye on the configurator. I think the Spyder ones are too busy, all personal taste though.

IMO, the RS Spyders are the best looking. I also was disappointed in the Carrera Classics.
I'm fairly certain that all the OEM wheels are total anchors, but I've not seen actual weights. Probably 30 lbs wheels. You can get HRE R101LW or BBS FI-R (once available) that would weigh 1/2 as much. Since this is my DD, I'm just sticking with OEM.

None of the above! Carrera Exclusive Design wheels (the ones on the 992 in the recent Bad Boys movie). In person they are great, and have a kind of retro Fuchs look, which pairs well with the other retro touches in the 992's design IMO. Not sure, but I believe these are the only forged option, which if true, would lead me to think they are also the lightest. Easiest to clean = bonus!

It's an optical illusion but the Spyder wheels visually fill out the wheel wells - probably because they have a flatter profile, they look bigger.
I did get PCCBs - I would definitely consider the cleaning issue with iron brakes. I HATE cleaning wheels and the mesh wheels are the worst for cleaning.

I have the Classics and they suit the car quite nicely. Had I actually ordered the car I would have chosen the Carrera Exclusive Design wheels.
I typically do aftermarket though. I have 4 sets of wheels for my Huracan plus the stockers. Changing wheels is easier than swapping cars when I get bored.

On another thread someone posted that just because the configurator states they're forged but doesn't specify the other are doesn't mean they aren't. They then linked to parts descriptions from another Porsche site that showed some of the other designs were forged as well.

I went with the RS Spyder wheels just given how sharp I think they are and compliment the 992...next choice would have been classics in silver, as its just basic and clean...some of the in the middle painted variations look good but never really got me wanting to order. Weight wise I'd imagine they are all pretty damn close and all heavy AF haha.

My wife wanted the Cayenne RS Spyders on our 9Y0 Turbo, but I was able to gently overrule her to keep my sanity by explaining that the Turbo wheels are exclusive only to the Turbo, and cannot be optioned by lesser Cayennes. RS Spyders are on every second Cayenne out there. It worked. Wish I could use the same line here. Maybe that's a good reason to just wait for the 992 Turbo?
Regarding the wheel choices in this thread, I also like the Carrera Classics the more I see them in person. They've really grown on me. With Agate Grey to sort of match their painted inserts, they look spectacular. Classy and understated. The Spyders look more overtly sporty to my eyes.
