Who is getting a Turbo S?

Interesting. I've always (where "always" means over the past 6 or 7 months I've been shopping) thought the non-sport looked better too. I like the square pipes. Just wondering if I'm missing out on the sound, or missing out on something else. Or perhaps compromising what future buyers might expect.
I actually like the dual oval exhausts - it's what's on my 993, so it matches.

this is just an artifact of the very first allocations dribbling in. Squeeze a little more out of folks who just have to be first. Once they get to the full production a quarter or so later, these will disappear. I expect 992 carrera style discounts within a year. eg a couple % below MSRP

So do we think regular 992 turbo will match last gen Turbo S performance-wise? These cars are bonkers.

there were rumors about that, which nailed the 640hp here so yeah I’d give them credence. The 992 doesn’t have or need overboost, so actually it’s probably going to end up a smidge faster.

I will need to drive it to decide. On paper, the difference from 991.2 is rather small - no fundamentally new tech or big improvements. I know power jump is large, and there is one extra gear, but it's almost never relevant in real life. If it feels better, more like GT cars, I'll get one for sure. One thing I like about the 992 is that some of the mods that were almost essential on 991.2 (exhaust, DSC and/or springs) are now available as factory options and they addressed intercooler deficiencies, it seems. But I addressed it via mods very easily on 991.2, so it's not a strong argument.

I'd be interested in the "lightweight" version of the Turbo S.

IMHO yes. I liked my 991.1 TTS a lot but I found the car wasn’t visceral enough - so I had it lowered with Eibach springs and almost put an exhaust on it before trading it for a 993 TT and ordering a PTS Targa 4S (with pse) to cover all bases....but now this car appears to have it all.

"Quite a discrepancy" meaning .1-.2 gain 0-60 and .2-.3 gain in the 1/4 mile...that's certainly a difference when we're already talking 2.6-2.7 and mid 10's on the 991.2, respectively... i.e. 60hp gain, that's car lengths in any type of race
