Custom order 911 in SoCal...which SoCal dealers are known to offer better discounts?
#16
Last time I was there, they showed me the Kardashian mom's new cabriolet she hadnt picked up yet, some other celebrity's GT3, and more name dropping of who ordered what and how many CGT's/918's they have in their collection. My takeaway was that non billionaire/celebrity/athlete customers are not the priority there. The SA's don't want to be bothered, much less negotiate with normal customers.

My main dealership is DTLA Porsche. I have a long standing history with them and they are as courteous and professional as it gets. I've sent countless forum members and friends to that dealership. Strong discounts.
With that being said, my GF was in the market for a new Macan S and needed the car now since she had turned in her lease. DTLA did not have the color combo she was looking for so I was dreading having to play hardball with new Porsche dealership whom I have no relationship with.
I was pleasantly surprised at the responses I got. It was very warm and positive. Riverside Porsche, Irvine Porsche, Soutbay Porsche, and Porsche San Diego are places I would look at. Ultimately, we struck a deal with Southbay and it went great. They will be my second go to dealership.
I would 100% stay away from Porsche Beverly Hills.

Wow, DTLA Porsche just hooked me up. Incredible thanks to those who recommended it. I've been trying to find a C4 allocation with a fair discount ever since I cancelled my C2, I've contacted over 20 dealerships (including Beverly Hills, where I've purchased from before), and DTLA was the first to actually help me. Deposit down, should have my C4 by July!!!

I have dealt with almost every dealership in Southern California...I've heard good things about Downtown LA sales but not their service department...McKenna service is great, but never dealt with their sales side. San Diego is fine and I have a good relationship with the Carlsbad dealership. Neither of the Rusnaks in Westlake or Pasadena are my favorites, same with Newport Beach. Irving was pretty solid but it's been a while since I spoke to them. Woodland Hills was bought out so not sure how they're doing under new management. Really I think it comes down to the SA you work with and how motivated they are. Pasadena for example told me they wouldn't do any discount on a Cayman GTS...a few months later dealerships were advertising 17-20% discounts.
I just helped a friend buy a Macan at South Bay, they were good on discounts, relatively easy to work with.

Sounds like things are improving a bit vs a few months ago in terms of willingness to discount and of course these things always vary from dealer to dealer and customer to customer. I do find it odd when SoCal dealers play hardball and won't discount at all (as my local dealer did when I brought my checkbook ready to place an order a few months ago) because of "local market" differences when PECLA is right in the heart of the "local market" and you can have a car shipped there for PECLA delivery from any dealer in the nation for $500 (and have really fun afternoon for that price). I could see a dealer playing hardball when you are 300+ miles from the next closest dealer and would have to pay thousands in shipping to get a car sent to you but in SoCal, there is an unlimited pool of dealers who can sell you the exact car you want and ship it essentially for free and with no hassle.
I guess most customers don't think of it or don't want to do PECLA delivery because it seems they are able to sell cars at high pricing but I find it odd...

FYI, PECLA only delivers 1 car a day M-Th. Covid probably has something to do with it but I had ordered a PECLA delivery and arrived in Benecia in early January, but because of Backlog, they could not accommodate a delivery until March. I had them send it to my Dealer which was also in So Cal.
