On most cases the ground post is on the other side of the car, and the real reason for the ground post is to prevent arching. For Lipos (and AGM's you can connect directly to the negative post.) You will hear squeals about the BMS, etc and in some cases this is true. There are some cars that will cause an issues (specifically with AGM with BMS that is external from the battery and depending on how they read and ajust to current variances) But for Porsche and coincidently for Mclaren, Lamborghini and Ferrari (I have done it on all these marquees with no issues), you are good to connect to both pos and neg. If not the last 5-10 years for me would have been problematic - no issues what-so-ever.
did you mean to reply to my message? Because i was referring his question about using that main ground post he pictures that already has a load of wires on it. Not the battery post or the negative terminal labeled for charging on the other side of the car..

How long does the CTEK liPo charger stay at the level 2? I’ve just pulled it in directly to my battery post and still on level 2 after 2-3 hours. I didn’t think my battery was that low, I have been driving my car.

Even after driving it will start with one or two lights for quite a while. Usually after 5-10 hours (if fully charged from driving) it will progress up to full charge (both green lights lit)

Hooked up my Noco G750 a few weeks ago. Ran it through by the wiper arm for the day it’s inevitably dead.

thanks that was it. Left it over night and this morning it was on the level 8 maintenance. This will be much easier than what I used last year with the Porsche Charge matic and trying to do the 12v footwell socket dance.

So I went to my dealers parts department and discussed what type of battery I have and they were adamant that I have a lithium ion battery. I have a 992 gts with no RAS. They even checked my serial # and confirmed I have lithium ion.

i bought the Porsche charger that has options for both. Hope it all works. Storing car sometime in November.

Just installed my CTEK lithium battery charger (
Amazon Amazon
), and thought I would post a few photos so that people can see my approach. Based upon some searching I did on here, I ended up connecting the positive and negative charger leads directly to the positive and negative battery terminals (rather than connecting negative to a ground). I then routed the connector up through the windshield cowl, so it is easily accessible without opening the hood. When not in use, it's capped and totally out of sight.

Going to keep this bad boy in regular use given the absurd replacement cost of the lithium batteries ($2,500).

Were you guys able to connect the eyelets to the positive/negative posts directly? I've read a few people saying you aren't able to unscrew the nuts holding the posts completely, so you can't string the eyelets through without cutting/dremeling the eyelets. I'm about to attempt to hardwire my charger since my 12v outlet is unreliable and want to know what to expect. If unable to remove, I will try connecting to the screw post next to the positive and to negative ground post since I don't have the tool to cut the eyelet.

Also, any issues (e.g. warning lights) after disconnecting/reconnecting battery?

This nut can be completely removed so the eye lug fits over the stud

Thanks! Interesting that your bolt has a cover, but mine is completely exposed?

Seems the positive terminal is easy, but how about the negative terminal? Are you able to remove the nut fully? I'm afraid I'll run into this: **** up trying to attach battery tender cable to negative battery terminal - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

Also, anybody what this part is? I'm wondering if it's safe to ziptie my charging cable to this or not?

Negative cannot be removed, as stated. Strut tower bolt is a solid ground and 8mm.

You can’t remove the nut fully on the negative terminal, but you’re supposed to connect at the negative post on the firewall anyways.

Also, that’s your A/C line. You can zip tie to it.

Does anyone know if there is a 6mm ground bolt location? I'm trying to hardwire it so can accept charger and boost in case battery dies so I can boost without opening the frunk, but the kit I'm looking at only has m6 size.
