Value Equation - 992 C4S VS 992TTS
Does the board think that the value equation 992 C4S V 992TTS will stand? The 992 is such a good car - and so quick - what is the rationale for the upgrade. This IS NOT a $ value thread but rather trying to understand the allure to ordering a TTS over a properly equipped 992 in an overall ownership experience....? Is the 992 simply too good???

We all love Porsche 911's which is why we bought one. For me, it's hard to imagine spending $100k more on a car whose power is mostly not usable on city streets (legally). The C2S is enough car as a DD for me and I'm very happy with it. Perhaps when the 992 TT/S comes along my opinion will change

The value is having the fastest 911... at least until they make another GT2RS.🤪 The TT/TTS cars also carry considerable cachet with car enthusiasts, because people know that they’re fast AND the status/advertisement that you dropped supercar levels of coin to get a new one.
Yes, you could argue that the Carrera S models are now so fast that a TT/TTS is overkill, but spoiler alert: they were always overkill, going back to the 930. The excess is the point.

The current 992 feels close to the 991.2 TT/TTS acceleration at street legal speeds. I expect the 992 TT/TTS to be faster, but I'd bet it won't be like the 991.2 in terms of comparison to the Carrera.
In this case, I'll take the lighter car.

The allure is simply having the "best" 911 (short of the GT cars, which some considering too race-y and uncomfortable). The 992 TTS will probably not be out dragged by random Teslas or Taycans at stop light races, so there's that too

Agree that the 992 is more than enough to squirt around traffic.

I think you are asking a logical question to something that's an irrational, passion driven motivated purchase decision. You are right, the 992 S variant is *very* quick on the road (I have an 4S), however when facing an on-ramp or a long stretch on a track such as COTA, there is a notable difference between 450hp and a 600+ hp car with bags of torque available. My chipped M5 with ~700hp always makes me laugh when I put my foot down.
So I just really enjoy the shove and feeling of insane acceleration you feel with the Turbo models - it's something I don't "need" but something I "want" which is why I'm considering trading up when the time comes.

I actually have been curious about this. The C4s vs the turbo S for instance will still have it's people who want the widest/most expensive version of the 911 (non gt) with all the goodies just because...granted not sure it's worth the extra 100k on the 992 but thats another thing. The more interesting thing to me will be trim levels like the GTS...while cool, Im betting less GTS sales than in past history given Id imagine most of those stickers will be 25k-30k more (over an already REALLY expensive 911) and that may really not be worth it to most this go around. Either way, they are all awesome!
