Default Is Sport Chrono essential?

Clock
– Normal mode

– SPORT mode
– SPORT PLUS mode
– Individual mode
– SPORT Response

– Porsche Wet Mode
$2,720 f
or a nice clock and access to the bold items above.
What does Sport Plus do that Sport mode doesn't? Wet Mode?
Thanks for the input. I'm not planning any racing.

Sport Plus cranks things up to 11. If you don’t have Sport Chrono, you won’t get it. Snappier throttle response and more aggressive shifts in auto and manual shift modes.

Wet mode is brilliant. I just drove about 500 miles through a downpour at speed and it proved it’s worth.

Note: You do get wet mode without Sport Chrono, but it takes up one of the center toggles. The 918 inspired rotary selector that you get with Sport Chrono is better in every way.

Sport Response mode briefly flashes you a little supercar. Worth it.

Launch Control is the best in the business and will rocket this thing to 60MPH in less than 3 secs. Even if you barely use it, it’s a bragging rights feature.

Get Sport Chrono. You will get the money back on resale and have a easier time selling the car, because Porsche’s without Sport Chrono are weak sauce. If you pick only one option, that option should be Sport Chrono.

Sport plus is more aggressive shifting of the PDK - certainly the setting you’d chose on the track.

SC isn’t “necessary” but I think a PDK car w/o would be a tad strange. But it’s your car.

If I had to do it all over again, it would be the first required option on my list. The steering wheel controls and the "warp speed" button make it all worth it.

It's a must. Lot more comes with SC package. Here is a list of some other things:Sport Response Button (pdk)
Launch control (pdk)

Rev matching in sport or sport + (MT)
G-force meter
Clock with lap timer
Sport screen on PCM for lap analysis (and draws laps on PCM screen as you go around)
Ability to download performance data to your laptop
Upshift indicator in MFD
Mode dial on steering wheel which also adds I-mode
Relaxed point at which PSM kicks in (i.e. allows more yaw)
Increases idle speed
Opens additional symposer tube for better sound in compartment.
Changes RPM limiter to sport from normal.
Rear axles steering, PASM, PDCC, PTM and PTV go to sport mode (Sport mode for PTM and PTV doesn't exist in a RWD carrera with a MT)

It's a must, but only because it includes a bunch of performance stuff that should already come as standard on a Porsche. Having to pay extra for Launch Control is ridiculous.

And the only thing included with it that I don't really want is the "Chrono" part. It just uglies up the dash.

If you only get one option on a 911 it should be the Sport Chrono.

The normal driving mode is for efficiency. I regularly switch to sports mode when I’m not in traffic. It makes a big difference in the pdk shifting, and it disables auto stop start (***) which is every bit as annoying as it’s acronym suggests. The individual programmed mode is kinda nice too, but mostly I just swap between “range” and “fun”.

Yes and no. PASM, PDCC and RAS can be put into sport by pushing the damper button or selecting chassis sport in the PCM.
For PTM and PTV+ sport mode you'll need SC indeed for they are attached to sport+ mode.

Whenever I'm looking at 911's for sale, no matter how beautiful the build is, I immediately click out of the listing if I don't see the indicators that it has sport chrono. Normally I stare at listings for a few minutes and imagine owning that specific one, but my mind won't even let me fantasize about purchasing that specific car if it doesn't have it, haha.
