991.1 cars holding value because last NA, 991.2 just another turbo.
and when their selling only hybrid drive 911 shortly, some will say the 992 holds its value well because it's the last of the internal combustion pure cars...

everyone has to justify their situation... Fact is, if you're buying a car, much less a 911 with resale value in mind, you're not managing your money wisely.

Save a ~$120k and buy the best value and arguably most fun sports car on the market, the BMW M2C with a 6-speed manual. My god this car is good. It's the most fun I have had behind the wheel. Don't get me wrong, 911 is still one of my favorites, but they've become too balanced and refined over the years to exploit and or have any fun with unless you're on a closed course or a muppet.

There is also the M2 CS next year in 2020 at $83.6K. Cheaper than base 911 Carrera S at $113K. Save $30 - $50K with the Porsche options getting you to around $140K. The M2 CS has barely any options.

I personally wouldn't want to spend $130,000 on a decently optioned 992, too overpriced. Much better and cheaper options out there, unless you wanna tell people I drive a 911 of course.

911s are depreciating assets so buying one at almost any price makes no sense when you can get reliable and safe transportation for 10% of the price. I've wanted a 911 for decades and I am finally buying one exactly as I want it. This is not a smart financial decision. It is a smart emotional one. Period.

couldn't have said it better myself.... buying this car for a financial investment or with the hopes of resale value is not a good starting point for why you should be buying this (or any) car.

Car car almost always is not an investment and I agreed is a very emotional impulsive purchase, that is why Porsche can get away overcharging you an arm and a leg for their ridiculous options.

how do you come up with over charging? Even with the biggest margins in the auto industry they probably net 12-15% profit per car after all costs... Have you seen labor rates and laws in Germany? Have you looked at the quality of the build materials that go into a 911 vs a car for $60-70k?

Wasnt really looking but happened to find out those Giulia qv can be had in the 50s for a near new loaded one with ccb and cf seat. That’s a hell of a car for the money!

You miss the ridiculous option part. Had a piece of red dial paper on my car that according to Porsche a $500 tix. I’m sure they are getting “better than selling drug” level of profit on those items

If the M2C is anything like my M4C, then you can't use all of that power most of the time anyway. And forget driving it in the winter on snow/ice. It's still a fun car, but the rear wheel drive setup just can't handle all of that power.

You cannot be serious about taking a non Turbo or GT 992 over the R8......It will be a hard choice with GT or Turbo cars compared to R8...but normal 911s? I'll take the R8 anyday.
