Had a chance to try out the new tires in adverse conditions and they are great! Did 120 miles in 3 hours of freezing rain yesterday and today did 30 miles in a bit of snow (<0.5" - triggered the ABS a few times) and some light blizzard.
After 150 miles on the Alpin 5 I can say they are quiet, comfortable and do a nice job in the slippery stuff.
I agree. I also found the pilot alpin 5 to do a good.job on my 992 C4s. DC4ve thru light recurrent snow squalls and about 1/2 inch snow and I couldn't make the traction control light go on. Tires work fine. My only comment is that porsche should be making them available. for 140k, our C4s cars should have available snow tires. I shouldn't have had to pay all that money to get them from Germany
Perhaps a little late (or very early) as winter is over in most places but I found this brilliant review (by a person who specializes in tire reviews) of the Michelin Alpin 5 on a 992 C2S which I thought was worth sharing:
I've driven around enough with these tires to say that they're great on both snow & ice. I definitely recommend them to anyone who lives somewhere with a real winter.
