TireRack has the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 available (NA0 for 2020 Porsche 992 Carrera S - 245/35R20 and 295/30R21) for $1640. Availability keeps flipping between next few days and Jan/Feb but had my tire shop order them for me yesterday and being installed next week. Not going to be driving through snow but want the cold weather grip and resilience over summer tires.
I'd like to see a comparison between these tires and the old PA4's, particularly the N1 PA4's. The PA4 was already a great tire, so I'm curious how this tire improves on its performance.
What is your reasoning to get tires only and mount them on your existing wheels? I am torn between getting the winter wheel package from Porsche and getting the tires from tire rack.

I purchased the winter tire package from Porsche. The tires are road force balanced and came with center caps and TPMS. Switching wheels and tires was basically easy off and easy on.
Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 - front 245/35R20 and rear 295/30R21
NA0 = Porsche approved for 911 Carrera
Old Goodyear Eagle F1 after 2200 miles
New winter tire with 10 miles
My tire guy couldn't get them from TireRack after all but tried his usual 4 distributers and got the tires from one of them for same price as TireRack (plus no shipping cost) = $1640.
Labor cost of breaking down old wheel/tire, moving TPMS sensors and installing new tires and then mount/balance etc was $200 total including storing the summer tires for as long as I want.
Pressures set to 32psi front and 35psi rear (per table in Good To Know app - partial load, winter tires, 20" front and 21" rear).
Lower cost, I'm leasing my 992, will only cost me $25/tire for mounting/balancing using a mobile mounting service. They will install at my house. They have excellent reviews and considering this option rather than going to Porsche dealer etc.

I like the look of my current 20/21 wheels and a similar set (in black with Porsche crest center caps etc) and with Michelin Alpins are between $5600 and $7000 depending on where you get them. So mostly my reasoning is price as I got these and had them installed for under $2000 and future swaps will be $200 every 6 months.
I got the tires for cold weather resilience and grip - not for driving through snow (I have other cars for that if needed on the 8-10 snow days we get here in PA). Note summer tires are not so great below 40F or 5C, and can be damaged/cracked below 20F or -7C. But if you want to slice through snow/ice then smaller wheels would be much better and the 19" front and 20" rear wheel/tire set is the best bet for around $3600.
I just got my 21 and 20.inch michelin artic alpin 5s from germany by utilizing the talents of a tire importer who is my patient 2 weeks ago the fronts came and a.few days ago the tears came. The dealer installed them toda . I tried through tire rac . They were saying best case feb delivery for rear. Any time I called.porsche techequipment for the tire wheel package they always told.me.back ordered. My way wasnt chea . The tires were about 1400 dollars and the fed ex was 1000 dollars. My patient did a great job filling out the multitude of papers getting the tires from Germany to.NJ. I took the 992 C4s our in light snow and it does what the 992 C4s was made to do. It drove beautifully and stably in snow and slush. Porsche should. Be making.these tires available to us. For 150k, we shouldnt be searching for them. After all, these are C4s cars
Had a chance to try out the new tires in adverse conditions and they are great! Did 120 miles in 3 hours of freezing rain yesterday and today did 30 miles in a bit of snow (<0.5" - triggered the ABS a few times) and some light blizzard.
After 150 miles on the Alpin 5 I can say they are quiet, comfortable and do a nice job in the slippery stuff.
