Love it. Child seat in a Ferrari. Just establishing an impossible hurdle for future wannabe teenage boyfriends to get over nice and early. Good work.

Best thing I'd go to dealer with the family and sit in the car...a 991 will be similar...sit in a wide body ie TTS or C4S

This thread topic is like someone trying to order a hamburger at a chinese restaurant. You're just not going to find it.
After sitting in multiple 992s, there is simply no legroom for anyone over 5'5" , unless the driver himself is 5'5" or under.

Even near 5'5", you're going to be ceiling constrained in the backseat, at least with the sunroof cars. Fortunately, with our kids, they're driving their own cars at that point. :P

Another data point: My wife is 5'1" and daughter 5'3". Wife and daughter can sit pretty well behind each other on passenger side. We did a gentle back roads 80 mile drive for brunch on day 3 of 992 ownership. When wife in back no complaints but when teenage daughter in the back we had a lot of whining (character building in my opinion). But they fit and it was safe but not very comfortable.

So the message I’m receiving is that for little kids it’s fine but big kids it’s not which means I need to tell my wife that now is the time for a 911 (my oldest is 7) and I’ll definitely for sure get something more practical when the kids are bigger.

Character building. Love it. My 16 year old presented some minor complaints, but she says that the coolness of the 911 offsets those complaints. Most of the time, it's just my wife and my 10 year old son who fits easily behind me or my wife in the car.

Car rear seat area is narrower and the seat back is completely upright so even if the knees fit behind the front backs, it isn’t comfortable for anything other than a short trip. Coupes are better.

I actually didn't realize this and it may in fact make up my decision for me on which body to buy. Does the targa back seat more closely match the coupe or the cab in the 991? Targa is the dream for me but I do need to throw kiddos in the back for school dropoff.

A few years ago I actually drove my 991.1 Cab from central PA to NYC with my 26 year old 4'11 daughter in the back seat and her 5'5 friend in the passenger seat. Also, my 5'2 wife has ridden in the back seat on short trips when we have a taller friend in the passenger seat. The nice thing about a Cab is you have infinite headroom with the top down. If you want a Cab don't make rear seat room the deciding factor.

Same measurements here and my cats (aka our kids) would probably not be comfortable in the back; however, your kids might find the thrill of riding in a sports car offset being cramped, at least for a year or so.

Anybody over 5’ will not have fun in the back. Doable yes, but not practical. I’m 5’6” and have to move my seat way forward to give a passenger around 5 feet enough space behind me.

my daughter is 5’2” now and does complain about sitting in the back. The back seats are nice for a short trip or emergency, but whoever is back there and not a child will not be comfortable.

However, having the option to take additional passengers is something very few real sports car can provide.

“Rear seat legroom”

Thats an oxymoron if there ever was one for the 911.

I am 6’5”, one would think that nobody can fit behind me but my 11 years old daughter sits behind me, even on longer trips, just without shoes.

Worth it for the OP to go check out 991s at a dealership, both coupe and cab. Same wheelbase, and likely similar scenarios to the new 992s.

We're a family of three, and we fit just fine in a 991 coupe, even for longer trips. I'm 6'2 and my better half is 5'6, with a little one who usually sits behind her—works for 3-4 hour trips just as well as it does around town. Would be curious to see if our little one can sit behind me, too, but my better half can do something in a 991 that she could not do in a 997: Sit straight up in the back seats without her head touching the rear window—this when sitting behind a friend (5'10?) of ours on the way to dinner. That wouldn't be something anyone would want to do on a long trip, but its miles nicer than it was in a 997 (read: possible).
