In any case yes: regulations. Even in - *gasp* - racing FIA, EU etc. Not physics. It’s all about the carbon (for street cars) and taxes (by displacement outside of the US.)
100% agree with you! The original poster mentioned the 992 catching up to the NA GT car, I assume the street GT3 car.. which is close siblings to the race car. I believe the power spec is similar, but of course the street car is configured for street emissions, etc.
