Hi YoungTurk. Any chance you have more close up photos? I can't decide between GT silver and gentian blue and I think I've settled on GT silver and except for debadging, my latest config is similar to yours (including the non-glass sunroof). I'm also still unsure whether I go with stain platinum wheels but the standard carrera s wheels color looks quite nice with GT silver. Thanks in advance!

IRL the standard wheels in silver, and the silver trim, give a lovely contrast against GT silver. I thinks it's because GT can be quite 'steely' out of direct sun, or even in evening sun.
I think, sub consciously, that I was influenced by the original Porsche (euro) advert for the 992 (the one with the lady driving the GT car and a guy driving a gentian one).
I did a few freeze frames of this car and it really appealed to me.
Still didn't stop me very, very nearly ticking jet black metallic though!

I think all 992 ads featured the dolomite silver. Also almost all cars delivered to reviewers during the initial launch was dolomite silver too. I realized this long time after, and switched from GT to dolomite bcs it turns out the flashy bright silver we see on the ads are all dolomite and it looks fantastic.

[QUOTE=soguinness;16224181]I think all 992 ads featured the dolomite silver.
Even the one I mentioned? I know a lot of the silver press cars were/are indeed dolomite though - fortunately you can normally find the specs from the Porsche press office website using the reg number.
For example, S-GO 4022 features a lot in press reports and the stock/promo track and road footage, and this is definitely dolomite. Yes, I practically became a stalker when trying to lock down spec!
There is a short vid also on YT from the other day fron Porsche West Palm beach (I think) of a GT silver.
Anyhow - appreciate it's a personal thing!

Man BradleyCB-- I was there ordering my car when your car was sitting there waiting for you to pick it up. I've never been a RED fan and I was drooling over your car. Very carefully spec'd car- love it! The Black makes red amazing. Congrats man.

@jjl I'm really confident they are both GT, although admittedly the 360° view one is a render.
My reasoning is that the standard wheels and silver trim genuinely have a greater contrast against GT, as it has more steely tones.
When I was picking I went to the OPC and took samples of both GT and Dolomite around the showroom and car park to get a feel for them in various lighting conditions.
Dolomite is more obviously a silver, with a blue hue, and as such colder. It has less variation in tone than GT, which can go from light reflective in direct light, to almost non-metallic and steel-like out of direct light.
Or at least that's what I hope!

One thing about carmine red. I really don't think pictures capture the depth of the red. Or at least I haven't been able to do so.

Here is a dolomite that confused me like hell. I was so sure that it was a GT, almost argued with the dealer lol. Turns out it is a Dolomite Silver. Hope it helps you a bit with dolomite vs a GT decision.
