Motortrends Best Drivers car 2019 is the 992! 991 won it too!!
Well now the debates really start...
the 992 S just won Motortrends Best Drivers Car 2019(previously won by the 991.1 S and the 991.14S - The 991.2S placed 3rd and the 991.2 Turbo also placed third.

Now, we can all have even a bigger debate on is the 992 better than the 991!!
But was the corvette c8 part of this test?!?!

Every 911 generation, every single one (even the 996), was better than the car that preceded it. Given the performance level of the S, it’s going to be neat to see what the 992 Turbo and GT cars are like.

Humans are funny.
Here, we have the 992 911 winning an award from a car magazine, and the responses are primarily trying to throw shade on the car ("no, the 993 was the last real 911!" etc.).
Two respected drivers and auto-journalists (Bovington and Pobst) had this to say:
I almost wonder what the responses would have been if the 992 had not won BDC from MT.

Two respected drivers and auto-journalists (Bovington and Pobst) had this to say:
"The Porsche blitzes the competition in terms of creating a cohesive, beautifully resolved driver's car," Head 2 Head co-host Jethro Bovingdon gushed after he spent some time behind the wheel of the 911 on the back roads of Southern and Central California, on our demanding closed-course road test on State Route 198, and on WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. "It melds every control and input until the experience feels seamless and utterly intuitive, polished to such an extent that every other car appears rough around the edges. It's easy to drive yet rewarding to push and prod, fluid but keyed right into the road surface. It's another bloody brilliant 911."
Champion driver Randy Pobst—a man with tens of thousands of miles' experience behind the wheel of 911s at the bleeding limit—agreed: "It takes the 911 experience another step forward."

I have no regrets on my 2s. I haven’t driven the 4s but I have never had an all wheel drive sports car and while I’m sure it fills a need for some I feel that with winter tires it’s mostly unnecessary.

Given the electrification of Porsche, there exists the possibility that the 992 may be the last purely ICE 911. I would be surprised to see the car go electric or electric/hybrid with the next generation.

Isn't the current 992 already set for a hybrid version, maybe when the 992.2 shows up? It is my understanding that there is enough room in the transmission area to shove in an electric motor. If so, how about making a hybrid version attached to the NA engine that is now debuting in the 718 GT4/spyder?

I know that some enthusiasts insist that Porsche is all about RWD performance... ignoring the 953, 959, 918, 919 and Porsche's long history with putting power to all of the wheels. The AWD Porsche cars have their own heritage and own lineage.

I went 4S, because AWD gives you more grip and traction in all conditions (dry, wet, snow, dirt, whatever). The very modest weight penalty is offset by a significant performance advantage for every day use. As a car for the street and public roads, it's all upside. It also should be noted that AWD doesn't preclude you from throwing a car sideways. It doesn't ruin the car or the fun.
