Standard Stereo?

Stereo? Your Porsche is the stereo.
I have all three. And the truth is ...
- Burmester in the 992. Ridiculously good sound, BUT only if you use a lossless service like Tidal. But, I rarely listen to it and in fact I just turn off the main screen and enjoy the ride.
- Bose in the Boxster GTS. Great stereo. Used it ... 2x? Too busy looking for tunnels and opportunities to rev it out.
- Standard in the Cayman S. Decent stereo. Rarely listen to it to enjoy the pops and crackles.

And spec the car to your taste, not someone else’s resale opinion.

These are not quiet cars so I think buying the top end system is somewhat of a waste. It’s difficult to hear the difference over the engine, exhaust and tires. I saved the money, got the Bose, and spent the extra money that Burmester would have cost on other options.

Depends more on your habits and wants. I got the Bose, but frankly it’s a waste. Looking for hi-fidelity in a 911 is an oxymoron. Too much car noise to sit there and try to admire some subtle cymbal or something. These are not luxury cars. I found I enjoyed listening to the car more than the stereo. Everyone is different.

I too have the standard system. There is so much wind buffeting with the windows down I just prefer to drive with the windows up cutting down on wind and road noise. With Apple CarPlay, the standard stereo seems fine. Cranking up the volume enough to drown out the wind noise when the windows are down will distort the audio quality, at least when I used it with the Sirius satellite radio that came with the car.

This does not apply to Burmester, but any XM/sirius signal will sound compressed regardless of audio system.

Agreed. After hearing the base stereo vs. the BOSE, I could not stomach the base. Music is a big part of driving for me, so I need the aural enjoyment. I didn't want to pony up for the Burmester since the BOSE was incredibly sufficient for my needs.

TBH I find the Bose system a little disappointing. Obviously subjective, but I thought the Fender system in my Golf R and the B&O in my RS3 sounds better. I find the Bose system lacks "warmth" on a lot of the tracks on my playlist. I end up skipping some of my favorite songs as they don't sound good at all on the Bose system.

Currently kicking myself for not double and triple checking my order as the premium package for 2023 doesn't include the Bose sound system. I maybe locked into the standard audio system. Fingers crossed it's not to late in the game to change it. Vehicle is not in production yet but is scheduled. Anyone have luck with a last minute change such as this?
