Paint damage... should I accept repair?
I went to take delivery today.
At the last minute, some minor paint damage was noticed at the very lower part of the rocker panel. It is in the textured part. It looks kind of like a burn mark, not impact... like some tar or adhesive damaged the paint. I wonder if detailers buffer could have caused it.
Should I accept repair?
This is after the car has been sitting at the dealership since Sept 12 because of lithium battery recall in Canada
There is also a defect with one of my Burmester speakers and it needs to be replaced.

Looks like can be fixed with a little touch-up paint. It might be worth asking for something in return--free scheduled services or something--but I wouldn't walk from the car for it.

Depends on how much you want the car, I guess.
on that particular part of the car, it’s not the end of the world IMHO
The car looks gorgeous. Just don’t stare at the area after they fix it.

Have them fix it and move on. It's the rocker panel. It's going to get bruised and beat up eventually. Not a if, but a when kind of thing.

Thanks for the comments so far. Dealer is offering pretty reasonable compensation I think, but I’d rather not disclose publicly out of respect for them and other purchasers waiting on cars from the same dealer. It will be fixed at a reputable shop.

Let them fix it correctly. It is in an area where you don't have to be Picasso to improve the defect.
I would ask for some compensation. Free oil change sounds good.

FYI, stuff like this happens ALL the time when the vehicle is shipped. Virtually ever auto maker I know uses a Port-based service company that fixes minor blemishes like this, installs "port installed options" etc. Chances are your previous "pristine" car had something touched up you never knew about anyway.
Enjoy the car!

I agree minor shipping damage gets repaired all the time. Psychologically, it’s a case of what you don’t know can’t hurt you. This is my first Porsche and the experience is a little bit tarnished now.

I'd demand they send it back to Germany for a re-spray to OEM specification!... only kidding. I'm extremely 'picky', however, given that minimal defect and given the location on the car I'd be okay with them offering to repair. Should be simple enough.

To put this in the right context. This is my first Porsche, I ordered it in January and it is loaded with options to $182k. After waiting four weeks for a battery while the car sat in the dealership storage, they notified me Tuesday to pick up the car Wednesday. Late Tuesday, they found Burmester speaker issue. I thought that wasn’t a big deal, it can be fixed when the part comes in. I arrived super excited after 10month wait with extra 4 unexpected weeks added on at the end. Mid-way through the paperwork, they came and informed me they found the damage and they don’t know how it was missed. .. it was disappointing. Everyone is helping me feel better it is minor damage and will be good as new after it’s fixed.

Given your sentiment, it's probably better you never do.
