So I found out for sure that the 992's do not come with the 12v cigarette type power sockets... I have a Uniden R7 that uses a RJ11 cable to power up... I wonder if I should just have an auto stereo shop install power to my rear view mirror? What other options would I have?

There is a cigarette adapter in the passenger foot well on the left side.

I think I'll do the auto audio shop hardwire like in that photo.... but seriously, I couldn't find the foot well socket, and neither could my dealer.

Your first mistake is assuming they are experts. More experts on RL than at dealerships.

They used that port to plug in the trickle charger in prior years. Maybe there is a different plan for the 992.
