Some quirks since owning the car. The HomeLink used to come on as I got near my garage (I guess it sensed I was near via GPS and the App would launch automatically). This has stopped working and I have to manually scroll to the HomeLink app. When I leave the garage (the HomeLink app should pop up on the screen so I can close the garage door when I leave, but no, Porsche has not figured out how to do this. I have to manually hit my shortcut button and the HomeLink menu would appear. Lately when I pull out of my garage, it takes a few minutes for the HomeLink app to appear because the system has not finished rebooting.
The keyless entry does not work. For the first weeks the car doors would unlock when you got near the car with the keys in your pocket. Now when I get near the car, the doors will not unlock and I have to play with the handle to open the doors- nevermind them popping open. Now I have to fumble my hand around the door handle (looking like an idiot) to get it to unlock. Half the time I have to just remove the key from my pocket and manually unlock the doors.

Agree with the door handle issue... I'm having the same problem.. you literally can walk up next to car (and if you're key is just in work out shorts) it won't auto unlock/release...
ONLY is reliable if key is in hand near handle.. this is probably just a quick software fix.. however this sucks for me... I'm 150 miles from a dealership...
Having said that.. I've owned new 10 Boxster... 15 Boxster S.. 16 991.1 Carrera and 17 991.2 Carrera... ALL with zero issues.

I used to think the door handle was supposed to pop up when you got near. But it requires your hand to touch the undersurface of the door handle to work. I am not yet in possession of my 992, but played around with the door handles for quite a while at dealer. As with other proximity cars I have had, it will unlock when it senses your hand, but if you don’t give it a half second before pulling it will not work right. Also it is an awkward position you have to place your hand for it to sense. If you are touching the outer surface when you come up to door it will get confused that you are trying to lock it. So you have to place your fingers under door handle without pulling, wait half second for handle to lift, then pull and open without touching the little dimple area that is the lock sensor. Definitely not one of the smoothest out there, but works ok if you do it right.

I have had the Car for a few days. Because of previously reported issues with keyless entry I avoided it. It’s not very difficult to click the key when approaching the car. I have opened and closed the door 30 times and have had no issues. Upon clicking the key the handle pops up and opens like any other normal door.

i had this issue on my car and someone suggested your phone in pocket or nearby affects it.
try it with cell phone away from keys and see if it works better

i have found that to be true as well. I wonder if the phone in the opposite pocket still causes trouble? I know on my Honda if the key is next to phone if will not perform any of the Auto Unlock or locking functions either. For that reason I try to keep them in different pockets.
