I’m in Canada , Canadian dollar is about 1.32 times cheaper than US dollar,

My C4S came to $182k Canadian

Options are.
Metallic paint.
Full leather two tone interior (jet black with black/Bordeaux interior)
Carrera classic wheels with color center caps.
Glass sun roof
Sport package (sport exhaust, sport chrono, sport pasm)
Premium package
LED matrix lights with PDLS plus
Parking assist 360 cameras
Blind spot monitor
Active Lane assist
Ambient Lighting
Carbon Fiber Interior trim
Carbon fiber door sill trim
Burmester sound system
Alcantara headliner
18 way adaptive seats
Heated gt sport steering wheel
power folding mirrors
Rear axle steering

It is my first Porsche , and I decided I should get everything I wanted or I would regret it. If I wanted to save money, I wouldn’t be buying a 911.

I have no regrets and I am super excited to get my car. It is being held hostage at the dealership for more than two weeks now because of battery recall.

I hope I get some free swag just waiting on this battery. I was the first to give a deposit, and the first to build and submit. Last to receive LoL

I am definitely asking for some extra goodies for this hassle. If you are number #1 deposit, I am probably 2 or 3. If we get our cars on the same day, I’d love to see your Gentian blue. I almost went for the blue, but decided I wanted the red interior and I wasn’t brave enough to combine blue with red interior.

Highly optioned Carrera S’s are never a good value. That’s why the GTS has always been the sweet spot of the range.

When I had a 991 - I originally was ordering a C4S. By the time I had that car optioned up, it was within very close striking range to a Turbo. So I cancelled it and got a Turbo. This is classic Porsche mind games.

But they have the GTS figured out too - don't release it until the end of the run.

Porsche knows *exactly* what it’s doing. When I was optioning my 991, I remember thinking “these guys are playing chess with my money”. They way things are optioned out - between the packages and individual options, as well as pricing between cars. It’s too easy to start spending serious money.

Prices are high only one reason - VW has to recoup their fines for the diesel scandal. It is blatantly obvious. It is absolutely crazy as S prices are higher than ever.

I can justify spending $150k or more for something that stirs the soul like a 458 or a gt3. But the 992, although capable, appears to be a tepid 911 so why waste the money?

My custom ordered 2014 was $149. I don't see the angst in the 992 pricing, but, admittedly, I haven't built one yet. Waiting on the manual and the GT3 flavor.

It's already been accounted for.

If VAG needed 911 sales to recoup the diesel fines, they'd be in the red for the next century. Give or take a decade or two.

But look at it this way. What other new car would you rather have at the price point of the 992?

Aston Vantage? Audi R8? Jaguar F-Type? Two of them (Vantage and R8) start life more expensive than the 992, and the Jaguar, while cheaper, is not really a true competitor to the 911. And all of them do not provide the driving experience that the 911 does.

Porsche knows what it's doing.

I’ll take an M2 CS w 6MT at half the cost. Or a GT4 w 6MT at 2/3 the cost. Or a 991.2 GT3 6MT with few miles at the same cost. But then I do not consider the 992 to be better than the outgoing 991.2 by any stretch.

You know, you don't have to spend $140,000+ on a new 911. You can spend $98,000 on a base coupe with no options and have a pretty darn nice car.
