So, yesterday an item that I foolishly placed in the "smoker's cup" (can't recall what the little cup is that replaces the ashtray) fell down into the seat rail area. What a colossal PITA it was to retrieve the item (18-way Sports+ seat).
Now I am thinking of a pair of 'gap traps" to keep this from repeating, any recommendations?
My experience with this gadget was not good. Installed one (not in my 991) and it sucked. The “comfort entry” movement wrinkled it and continually had to pull/push it back in place. Passenger side the same though obviously less frequently adjusted. Easier by far to fish out the occasional dropped item. YMMV.

I just ordered a faux leather one off ebay for $1.79 shipped from China and I will report back as to how it worked when I get it in a month or two. My seat moves back/forth so much I am thinking this will help protect the inner bolster seat leather as well.

I've gone ahead and ordered a pair of the 'Drop Stop" brand. I rely heavily on the 'comfort movement' setting in my 911--at my age, my wife, who hates Porsches with a passion (that's another story), delights in my efforts to enter and egress the car. That said, the contortions that I had to undergo to retrieve the dropped object from the other day far outweighs any inconvenience "resetting" the 'Drop Stop' that I may have to do.

I am dying to hear "another story" one day in a new thread.
I got my Drop Stop after I dropped my iPhone into the seat gap. The glass screen was trapped next to metal seat/motor elements with a very high chance of breaking the screen if I shifted the seat too much. It was like doing keyhole surgery to get the damn thing out without damage and took over 30 mins and many hilariously repurposed tools. Never again...

Don't forget the expletives! I invented a number of new ones when I did the surgery the other day.
Problem solved and looks like it's OEM ("Drop Stop" 'Shark Tank' brand). Thanks @pelucidor, no issues with the "comfort exit slide" BTW--the cover is very slippery against the leather side bolsters on my seats and the thickness of them yields a very tight, flat fit.
