Porsche would probably charge 991 911R prices for it but I'd love to have one!!!!
Take the “new” 4.0L in the 718, drop it in the 992, give it 450hp, strip it down to 3100 lbs, and call it a Carrera RS.

Anyone have any updates? I got a call last week from my SA that it will be a slightly tuned down version of the Turbo S motor with a manual, no rear bench and some lightweight goodies. Getting excited! Maybe the equivalent of a GT2RS Touring.

Maybe this is the ducktail turbo that keeps showing up in spy shots!... That would be heavenly.

Interesting. Turbo/S shell without vents and a fixed front spoiler and ducktail. That could be a very cool looking car.

Other than the rear fender vents, does the turbo body differ from the base 992? Wider fenders?

Yes the Turbo rear fenders are wider than a base 992, as they always are for previous gen.The 991 2RS and 3RS utilize Turbo rear fenders.

This is interesting because while the new and more efficient cooling strategy on the 992 Turbo now mainly feeds air into the engine/intercoolers from beneath the rear wing on the resr decklid, there is still some cool air coming in from the side intakes to help add additional cooling, albeit it doesn’t rely heavily on the side vents anymore. The side intakes are likely not necessary if the car isn’t making full T/TS power/boost. So why go Turbo fenders if they’re using a 3.0L GTS variant? Aesthetics? I still hope and believe it will have a detuned 3.8L T/TS motor and with just enough torque to keep the manual tranny happy. Maybe more aggressive gearing, carbon or mag domed roof, carbon bonnet, rear seat delete, buckets. This would obviously deviate from the 997 SC that did used Carrera S Power Kit, but I’m ok with that 🤣

Point you all to my original post in August 2019 which was dismissed by some people.

Unlike the GTS, I could believe Porsche doing a one off powertrain option for a special edition like this.

Of course the car would probably end up costing as much as a Turbo S and harder to find.

Yes, assuming there’s no hybrid motor at work here, I suspect it will either be an upscale derivative of the 3.0L or a downscale of the 3.8L. My SA is saying the latter and I think it’s fair to say the car will not have side vents. Let’s hope they also one-off a center lock Fuchs wheel with turbo rear offset...drool.
