Default Magnetic Suspension?

I know somebody who knows somebody who knows a guy that said the GT variants are going to use a magnetic suspension.

We've seen this used in several cars which have fast Nurburgring lap times. Can anyone else chime in on this?

Well, ever since the 991.1S they've had dynamic motor mounts as part of Sport Chrono. I guess you could say and extrapolate that's a "magnetic process". IIRC, these dynamic motor mounts started on the 997 GT3.

Define "magnetic". PASM has always used an electro magnet to control the valve in both Bilstein (Carrera) and ZF (Cayenne, Panamera, Macan) equipped cars.
They are not using magnetorheological ones as others do for performance reasons. Performance control and sustainability over temperature is much better with an actuated valve than with a change in fluid viscosity. Magnetorheological dampers are much less complex and a lot cheaper though. They are easier to adapt but with a narrower performance spread. A 911 won't gain laptime by switching to them.

Careful what you wish for!
Those "mag ride" dampers can work great, but are known for premature failure and "shocking" OEM replacement pricing. My theory is the magnetic metallic particles in the shock fluid simply wear out the seals - and I don't see why they wouldn't cause problems there. Ferrari simply specifies full replacement as part of a periodic major service. My mag ride equipped R8 started consuming shocks by 15k miles (under warranty).
This doesn't mean they're not a clever design and many get lots of miles before they leak, just that many fail and fail early.

Did the 959 have "magnetic" suspension back in the 80s?
