I also don't think it is fair to compare the S to GTS. We can expect to see different wheels and sportier body on the 992 GTS. Visual is subjective, but the performance and tech upgrade alone should justify the 992 is >991.

I still need to see and drive the car in person to make my final verdict.
Kinda surprised you prefer 992. I think 991.2 GTS is the best looking car in the range. GT cars are too much for me.

Yes, it's akin to how the 993 looked dated when the 996 was introduced.

Such BS, the only reason the 991 looks " dated " is because there is now a new model that was produced to replace it. Good or bad, anytime a new model of any product comes out it makes the previous one looked " dated ".

If the 991 came out after the 992 what would it be then?

I love my 991.2 Targa GTS and would pretty much only replace it with another Targa because I just love the look and functionality of that format. Until that one is released there isn't really anything for me to think about. With the analog gauges combined with some of the new tech (aka Car Play) my current car is a pretty good balance of tech advances and Car Play is updatable.

A 992 front with a 991 rear would look best if you ask me (but no one is asking).

992 rear is ok. the problem is the square front hood and interior.

I agree. 991.2 is so much better looking than 991.1.

I agree. Trying not to be biased because I own a 991.2, but for me the facelift made a huge improvement to looks. Enough for me to buy one. Forget the addition of turbos and mechanical upgrades. Just from a visual standpoint the 991.2 beats the first gen hands down. I have a feeling the same will be said of the 992.2 in four years time. The 997.2 was a massive improvement over the gen 1 997 and I bought one of those too. They seem to nail it mid cycle. Only time will tell. I like the 992. It makes sense. The visual cues are more homogeneous across the range but that is how brands work now whether we like it or not.

I say “wet mode this!!” - 991.2 Turbo AWD

But each to his or her own.
Me too! I have a Carmine Red GTS getting ready to get locked...when I option out the 992, its only 1k less than the GTS I spec ed. Not sure if I like the front end on the 992

Lol . . . Yep, lets all go start a bash thread about a car we don't own and don't have to purchase . . . and certainly ain't good enough that I am already bashing it in 3 other threads so I must start my own bashing thread . . .

I swear, it is this way every time a new Porsche model comes out. 996 owners used to bash the 997 as being dated and step back . . . then we all purchased a 997 and swore it was the best 911 ever. Will be the same story with the 992 once they get here and people make the jump.

Just curious, are those so vocal against the 992 the same that are so vocal in the silly 991.1 and 991.2 threads? Screw all of you, the 997.2 is the best ever. The 991 and 992 are even lower than a 993. Perhaps the 998 or 999 will be step forward from the 997one day instead of all these bloated GT cruiser 991/992s.
