My LA Auto Show Review of 992: Less than Meh

That console is going to go down in history next to the fried-egg headlights. It's a classic "HR failure," meaning HR f***ed up by hiring whoever designed it.
It'll be easy for them to overhaul it for 992.2, though. That will be the model to watch and wait for. All of the elements are in place to build a great 911, they just aren't all ready for prime time.

I think in some aspects this car looks good! Love the hood, love the updated wheel designs. The updated seat shape...not so much.
Also hate:
the rear badging - looks destined for Chinese market and looks cheap.
That weird gap in the center console between nubbin area and outer flank. Will collect dirt, dust, and soda juice. Maybe even a chicken Mcnugget.
Has anybody mentioned how GENERIC the tachometer looks??? I think that's even a step backward.
The badging on the door sills looks AWFUL. They are trying this more angular theme but to me looks tacky as all get out.

My (Chinese) wife's reactions on the front:
"It looks like a mouse trying to smile!"
"It looks like a fish with a big mouth"
"Let's look at the one you are having built (991.2)"
Flip back to the 992 pics:
"It looks like a duck!"
"It looks like Mickey Mouse"
Needless to say, she's not a fan. BUt loves the 991.2.
One thing we noticed - the front overhang is soooo long compared to the 991.2. Even the side marker looks incredibly long.
The interior I think it easily solved with removal of the piano black surfaces and fixing the odd connection between the screens in the 992.2
I'm looking forward to seeing it in person - the rear slope of the roof from the profile view reminds me a lot of the Jaguar - I hope that's just the camera angle as I didn't get that impression from other pics.

The pricing is going to prove interesting because this is now a $140-160K car w/ moderate options. Depreciation will be in line w/ Panamera and Cayenne.

Seeing the real pictures of non photographers (or the raw stuff) really makes the interior look incredibly cheap in comparison to previous 911s. I definitely want to see it in person, I'm sure some will appear cool but it's more 2 door Panamera than 911 :/

Funny I just read the 4 pages of bashing but just about everyone will be in line to get one. Would be hilarious to track all the haters that end up driving and owning one.

The car is a little too much on the fru-fru side for a lot of buyers now.
