Alternatively you let PDK do the job for you. If you find yourself having to shift while your arms are crossed (crossing the arms is bad driving technique, too), then PDK will do a better job at selecting the right gear for turn-in and it will figure out better when to upshift.

Check also the distance and the wide arch movement your fingers have to go through to shift with paddles attached to the steering column as opposed to paddles attached to the steering wheel.
Thank you.

The street 991.1/.2 GT3 PDKs were designed to mimic the GT3 Cup sequential gear lever. It's ok on the racetrack to have electropneumatic paddles to operate sequentials: there is not a lot of drifting or 1 and 2 corners (nomenclature for the acuity of the corners), but in rally, paddles are not your friend when you are doing some wild handwork as noted earlier in this thread. The GT3s (et al) have launch control as another nod to rally cars. I am disappointed that the gear lever has shrunken to a vestigial nubbin, soon to be extinct. Hopefully, at least one more generation of GT3/GT4s will have a PDK lever so I can rally it properly.

Imagine trying to grab paddles coming out of some of these tight corners (and, yes, you sometimes switch gears in the corner rallying).
Great point. The combination of paddles and a moveable gear lever was the best combination. Tested over time, and evolved to an extremely effective state.

Love Rally. Combined with the Irish, it’s a hilarious combination.

most cars with park buttons automatically go to park when your turn off the motor.

Piano black is a bad interior , how do people keep the smudges off ? I had it in 2 cars ,worst choice going . Electric parking brake sucks anyway you look at it . Shifter may as well be a button . I had a Mercedes with a toggle lever on the column which was pretty slick . Still had paddles . All this E crap has ruined the simplicity of a 911 .

Has anyone else noticed how horribly integrated the left and right screens are with the analog tach? The squared off ends look simply awful and unfinished next to the rounded tach.

To make matters worse, the reflection of the digital speedometer readout along the top is also a terrible oversight as well as the very crammed and small PDK gear readout.

How ironic that with an instrument cluster made up of mostly computer screens they still found a way to screw it up by cramming too much into that little space with a deep recess that causes reflection....

What a disaster.......

How disappointing is it to realize that the Panamera cluster represents are far more finished / well thought-out design?

In my opinion, it is also a better looking, modernized version of the Porsche cluster ( black background , orange needles , classic Porsche number font and size).

People keep complaining that the interior is too much like the panamera... I wish it was a little bit MORE like the panny.

WTF is it with Porsche and 25 mph increments on the speedo? That's just idiotic, but it's like that on all their cars. If the needle is halfway between 50 & 75, how fast are you going? 62.5! When it's 1/4 of the way, you're doing 56.25! Who thinks like that? It make an analog speedo useless. Why not make each increment 20 mph or 40 so you know that each 1/4 mark is 5 or 10 mph? Every other car I have ever owned or driven is that way. Since it's digital in the 992 maybe there will be a way to chance it. The analog speedo in my 981 is 100 percent worthless because my very large brain simply won't think in 6.25 mph increments.

From what I can see in pictures (I'm in Europe, so my cars measure in kph) on the speedometer configured in imperial units there are four marks between each 25 mph increment, e.g. between 50 and 75 mph, so each mark corresponds to 5 mph. Two marks above 50, that's 60 mph. But having the exact speed displayed at the bottom of the RPM gauge, I never look at the speedometer. Does anyone really do?

Eh, I don't agree and believe the 992/911 should have it's own identity. It's just sad to realize that more development dollars and thoughtful design went into the Panamera than the flagship 911, at least when it comes to cosmetics.

Do a Google search for car dash photos such as this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=car+...w=1920&bih=887

See any with 25, 35, 45, or anything ending with a 5? To my knowledge, Porsche is the only one who has MPH markings on the speedo ending in 5, and it is very illogical. Everyone else uses 10, 20, 30, 40, etc...

I agree that panamera cluster looks much better, not that I like it much either.

Not sure I've ever looked at my speedo. Doesn't everyone watch the digital in the tach?
